Agreed. Any injury warranting an MRI must be too severe to sustain any more 14+ hour days on her feet. It'll be interesting to see if she does try to complete the route after recovering or just throws in the towel. I have to agree with this. I can't really imagine a scenario here where she'll be able to continue, even if the MRI results are not as bad as feared. What's the best result they could possible get back? The knee isn't broken or catastrophically damaged, but is still horribly injured and getting worse fast?
Mimi's self-promotion doesn't really bother me, since pretty much all top runners are motivated partly by attention-seeking. Look at any elite who's written an autobiography, or called attention to themselves in the media before or after a difficult event. Or any Average Joe who posts a million self-congratulatory Facebook updates after finishing his first marathon. We can't require all runners to be quiet and humble just to validate their results. Mimi may be more self-promoting than the average, but whatever... who cares. I'm only interested in the running.

Usually around a week. The MRI and X-Ray machines may not be at the doctor's office but rather a diagnostics and imaging center that processes it and sends it back to the requesting doctor, so not a quick thing.
That's the standard with US insurance, though x-rays can be "while you wait" and I'll bet they get a faster result on the MRI, too. I wonder what UK insurance covers, this may have been a very expensive day.
