My interpretation of that statement is that it is OK to propagate rumors on a message board and that an athlete should issue a statement. Your interpretation is no better than an accusation. You take the simple "make a statement" and turned into "must make a statement" as well as "every allegation." Your interpreted much than you should have.

I disagree. This thread is about the process. We can not divinely know the truth. Since this thread has a fairly specific claim and it has been denied I may take it down at some point, but for now it stays. The easy thing would be to take it down.

Should we never have allowed the thread? And just known it was false from the beginning. Or taken it down when Centro tweeted? or waited for Ricky Simms response? Just act like the thread never happened? Then people would say we were trying to cover up the thread being wrong.

Threads about Lagat apparently are fair game for some of you but not Centro. What about Makhloufhi? We get blasted for being defenders of Paula Radcliffe by some and then blasted by others for even letting people ponder if she was dirty. I should go find some of the emails we got on Lance blasting us for allowing discussion. Yes, it would be a lot easier if I had a crystal ball and could tell what was true or not.

Athletes get paid a lot of money for the scrutiny they are under.

Our process does not always lead to the perfect result but it is consistent.

Are you really saying if Centro tested positive and had lied in his statement today this thread should never have been up? You must fall that no doping threads should be allowed. That would be consistent.

Why is that "classic"? Actually dirtybird is being way responsible in comparison to Letsrun. He actually cited tangible evidence, however flimsly that might be. Namely that Lagat is still running at a high level, winning titles and beating Rupp at an old age. How is Lagat doing it? That's a basis for a discussion. This thread is totally empty of that.

The Boston release mentioned that Ritz and 2 others had pulled out, while 2 athletes had been added to the field. Do you think that this all happened within the past day or two?

It's common practice to "save up" the withdrawals until one release is put out, often combining such bad news with the good news of additions.

Honestly, Wejo does have a point here. I started the Lagat thread out of curiosity, as well as a way to show how Centro is getting "unfairly" attacked on this message board. However, it is very hard to discern who is doping and who is not doping. If I had to speculate, I would say that Makhloufhi is a doper, as well as Radcliffe, but he/she never tested positive. These are the circumstances we are faced with now in endurance sports.

Regardless, in an environment of 24/7 and complete access media coverage some individuals get pulled through the mud in order to create stories to draw interest. If I had to guess, this story is one of those. Remember, Centro has never exactly thrown down a huge 1500m time (sub 3:30). But, when you sign up to be a pro runner with the NOP you are bringing that baggage of doping suspicions along with you as Wejo explains when saying that athletes get paid a lot of money for the scrutiny they are under.

If I had to guess, this thread will be gone in about 24 hours.

No way. If we're speculating, Centrowitz has way more "red flags" than Makhloufi.

As always, you dodge the issue that is most true -- while a few elites may hold grudges against Salazar/Nike (this should be no surprise -- most athletes in track and field are paid very lowly, and finding that a lot of them are pissed off about the "take this contract or not have a contract" they find themselves in, would be no surprise.

If you follow a bunch of elite athletes twitter and blogs, you'll get the impression that they all expect to make it up the ranks, to climb up the ranks and win a WC or Olympic medal some day -- and anyone who's old enough to have followed USA Track and running -- knows how unlikely that is.

I've oft stated that my favorite runner is Lopez Lomong. And that my main interest is in the college scene. (I've also stated that I don't post race predictions and the like, because I simply don't think that way.) I'll be surprised and delighted if Lomong ever wins a world medal. --Indoors is probably his best shot. He's inconsistent for a guy so talented.

FEW USA athletes will ever make it on the world scene, very few. Track is the longest odds sport any US Athlete could ever go after.

Last weekend, Salazar was ready to go to blows over a tight pass on the turn. Now, he says nothing to defend his top American performer on the world stage.

Other media outlets are picking up the story. True or not, it's getting to the point were this could affect the rest of his career. Yet, no one has come to his defense.

You'd at least expect that his dad would threaten to sue/kick the shit out of the Brojos. Yet, here this tread is without anyone one except his agent (read lawyer) coming to his defense.

Something is up, and it will come out eventually.
