I would be delighted if he raced the way Geb used to.

Nonsense--he looked back because he was done and wanted to make sure he had third. Also, nice to have Tim Hutchings call the race.

Derrick looked back with 300m to go and just cruised.

It's a race, not a bunch of kindergartners learning how to cooperate by holding hands in a circle. If you can win by sitting and kicking, why not do it?
Why didn't they then?
Congratulations to all these fine young men.
See y'all tomorrow!

Galen Rupp once again proves why it is so hard to like him. Have some sportsmanship dude!
Yeah. What a dick! You should be damn happy for the other two guys who are going to Worlds with you to also represent your country. Rupp is only ever happy for his "team mates" from NOP, though.
Not even a handshake. Not even a fvcking smile. Just a head nod.

Hey True fanboys - looks like your boy got smoked.
Top three were completely predictable.
Rupp gonna crush it at worlds.
The guy just got 4th in the best American 10k ever.
Disappointed? Yes.
A let down? No. I think most people had him picked for 4th. He's the new kid on the block. This won't be his last chance. He just 'arrived' at this level.
Why can't you just be happy for such an elite field of American runners?
What the fu#k are you seeing? Rupp, gave Ritz a hug and high5, then made the effort to turn around to find and acknowledge Derrick. What more do you want? I think there are some sick people here on LR....looking to complain about something that doesn't exist.

Didn't think Ritz would beat Derrick but congrats to the top 3.
I have to give it to Ritz, I didn't think he would be in the top 3 and after seeing him going for it in the last mile, I was REALLY rooting for him. Good job on his part--he might have surged too soon but have to give him credit for going all out. Kudos to him.
It's common courtesy. Even Serena Williams, who is insane and clearly hates all of her competitors except Venus, shows genuine emotion after her matches.
Currently, 82 degrees, 56% rel. humidity, 65% dewpoint. Tough conditions.
He hugged Ritz, and gave Derrick a congratulatory wave and nod. Who knows the state of Derrick, because he was off camera. Rits was leaning over gasping for air. So what do you want Rupp to do, fire-man carry them to his hot tub for a celebratory soak?
He [True] IS the biggest dude out of the four...he just can't dissipate heat as well as Ritz/Derrick
You call that an acknowledgment?! I give more acknowledgment to the guy walking out of the 7-11 as I'm walking in.
You're a dick too!

Just like at the trials some doosh thinks he knows what is in another guys head.
You can't see the officials pointing to them to keep moving out towards the outer lanes since there are still lapped runners running, twice lapped runners running.
Rupp did what most of us do in such a race, congrat our closest friend or finisher, and then walk over to our coach.
And here's the thing, he waved to Derrick, what you couldn't see was that Derrick probably then leaned over and grabbed some air. So Rupp started walking towards his coach to check in. bfd
Sooooooooooo, time for the NBA finals game 7 now?

Yep.
Ritz looks fit.
Class move by Rupp to shelter him for a bit, see if he needed pacing, before taking off.
Derrick is going to be great in the coming years, Alberto's gonna wish he had him.
He didn't snub him on the handshake, a la the Bumbie incident. He is improving his sportsmanship.
I love the beef between Schumacher and Salazar's groups... Flanagan didn't even acknowledge Hasay after the 10,000m and then when they had to meet she barely touched her with a faux hug. I think Rupp saw that, so he gave Derrick, a "yeah, good race" nod after the finish.
Salazar, 4
Jerry, 1
I am not a Rupp fan at all but anyone bitching about him not being nice or congratulating other runners are losers. This is a f*cking competitive sport, people need to start acting like it.
