This does not make sense, keene can not have a spot up for grabs on the mens side and neither can brandeis and colby on the women's side if you are saying New England gets 5 bids already. They could be in contention for one of those 5 spots, but once filled better luck next year.

Fact: Kosgei has 9 NCAA individual Titles.

Now, let's see what are his prospects for the rest of this year. XC (1 title), Indoor (2 titles), Outdoor (2 for sure and, if he goes for it, 3). This means that at the end of this year he'll likely have between 14-15 NCAA individual NCAA titles.

The record for the most NCAA Individual Championships by any NCAA athlete--across all sports and all divisions--is Suleiman Nyambi who accumulated 14 NCAA titles in his career at UTEP.

When you start throwing around the word "best" it becomes debatable. Many runners in D3, D2, and D1 are fantastic in their own ways and the merits of individual runners can be argued for years (that's why we have letsrun). So it's hard to say "who is the best." But Kosgei is certainly on his way to becoming one of, if not the most, highly decorated athletes (not just runners) in NCAA history.

I'm watching for a breakout from one of these guys. They are going to peak right on time. Heard it here first! (well ok second after the great JL)

Is there any reason to be worried about teams leading into regionals with the flu that is going around?

I think North Central is deep enough that 5th man trouble wouldn't be a major issue for them. On the other hand, if they had problems on the front end (namely with Spain), they too would be vulnerable.

the only reason NCC wouldn't qualify for nationals would be if their whole team got the flu, rabies, and some sort of flesh eating virus simultaneously. even then, i'd still bet on them being top 5 and getting an at large bid.

I meant more along the lines of a 2-3 team since realistically there's 8 or 9 teams fighting for 5 spots.

does d3 cap regional bids at 5 per region? is there a d3 bylaw that states this? or is it possible to get more but it just never happens? d2 mountain region (or whatever region adams is in) got 6 teams last year. any chance of a similar situation ever happening in d3?

Well I don't know the wording verbatim, but you have to be in the top five in your region in order to even be considered... that being said the at-large selections would not include a team that finished 6th.

Bottom line, there is a cap at 5 teams from a region.

Just looking for thoughts on this...if LAX takes the regional crown this weekend, does that make them the favorite for nats? Maybe they're racing and NC's settling in, just looking to qualify and stay fresh. Maybe they're a better team. Who knows? I guess my question is, does anyone care about regional places or just whether or not a team qualifies? In my eyes, regionals is about getting your ticket to nats and nothing more.

Their twitter feed (www.twitter.com/watch4stripes) is indicating 1,2,5,6,7. Either way, this North Central team is significantly better than I realized... and I already thought that they would win nationals by 15-20 points.

Interesting that Wilhelmy was 31st in the Midwest Regional for Lacrosse. If he runs as he's capable, Lacrosse's score is 25-30 points better, but NCC still wins convincingly.
