Geography professor says what?
That would be geology, not geography.
I was in the race, that was a bitch of a hill, and the downhill was so long it started getting a little painful towards the end. Props to Braun for running that fast on it, must've been the mustache-side burn combo.
ge⋅og⋅ra⋅phy
1. the science dealing with the areal differentiation of the earth's surface, as shown in the character, arrangement, and interrelations over the world of such elements as climate, elevation, soil, vegetation, population, land use, industries, or states, and of the unit areas formed by the complex of these individual elements.
One would tent to think that the differentiations of arrangement in the earth's surface is exactly what we are talking about, and I think I heard climate mentioned as well.

Alaska Anchorage,
Dominated their conference easily,
Ceseteto 24.30
Parisien 25.07
Kangogo 25.10
Kiplagat 25.20
Cory 26.34
Thei no.5 guy did not race well but statistics show that his time has just been 15seconds apart from their fourth guy, may be he had a bad day at conference. West regional champions can be tight.Chico looks to have a hard time beating alaska anchorage

Iam just saying its tight, i know chico ran well too
Alaska Anchorage,
Ceseteto 24.30
Parisien 25.07
Kangogo 25.10
Kiplagat 25.20
Cory 26.34, last ran 25.01 at sundoger
Remember their no.5 guy,(Rottich) who didnt race well at conference has been running well 24.55 at 2008 sundoger invitational, 32.39 at west regional preview (tough course).Predictions for west champions is realy tough.
Guilty unilt proven innosent.... see who fields a full team at Slippery Rock and let the chips fall where they may. Go RMAC!
i agree, conference is misleading cause teams train differently, who knows who was ready to race then and who will ready in the next month
The hill at RMACs wasn't really that bad. It wasn't very long or very steep for that matter. I don't see why anyone who does any type of hill training would say that. It was easier that the hill at the CU Shootout and you only had to do it once for the conference race.
Western looked great. Stellar times for altitude. Adams looked every matter. Amazing times for altitude.
chico will win easily. Sorry Alaska anchorage, but bauhs could have napped through a time that fast.
Most likely Chico will win the west and Bauhs will win easily. But unlike in years past, Chico will have to race near their potential to win as several teams and individuals will be able to challenge the heart of Chico's team.
Not certain how this will affect their national meet, but no way will Chico be able to just cruise through regionals, unless they are happy with just getting to the national meet.
So they are faced with some questions as an all out dog fight at regionals will affect their national meet.
Going back to the Central Region question...
Having Augustana as the 5th team, with Metro, Wayne or whoever as the possible 6th does not make sense.
If you look at Augustana at Griak or at the Loper Meeet and how they raced in comparison to Adams and Mines, then Metro easily beats them...even running a medicore race at the RMAC (that is Metro)...Augustana's goup at their conference meet would have scored well over 180 in the RMAC meet...Augustana would have been fighting it out with Nebraska-Kearney for 7th place in the RMAC meet....Vanderburg (?) did not race at conference for Augustana or at the Nebraska meet...Wayne State and St. Cloud? Are you kidding? Wayne could have the second individual if NM Highlands does not make it as one of the teams.
Adams State will win the national championship
Abilene will finish second
Harding will be third (Kirwa individual champ)
Western proved me wrong this weekend and raced very well in dominating Mines.
Western, Chico, Alaska-Anch will race for the final trophy spot.
Daniel Kirwa, Harding, 23:57 Cowboy, 28:53 Chile
Samuel Kosgei, Lamar, 23:32 Notre Dame, 29:05 Chile
Julius Nyango, Abilene Christian, 29:23 Chile
Steven Sambu, Rend Lake, 29:25 Chile
Along with Bauhs, all these guys could be All-American for Div. I.
Lamar is D1 and Rend Lake is JC.
Chico is ready for a battle.. and it surely will be a good one.
You sound like it's impossible to recover from a hard run at regionals for the NCAA race. Have you ever seen Adams/Western go at it at RMAC/Regionals/NCAA's?
I'm sure they'll be fine by NCAA's.
I actually think that running hard at regionals helps at nationals if you know how to let your body recover. There were times when I just time trialed regionals and those were not my good national races. Something about basically 6 weeks with no racing and only workouts made me a little off.

I don't think Chico ever cruises the regional meet. I do agree though that there will be some stiff competition this year.
