Judge Lloyd U. Nolan Jr. sparked backlash after ruling that suspected gunman Amonte Moody, 18, should only be on house arrest until his trial despite allegedly sparking chaos in a shooting spree.
So basically the the Democrats just wring their hands and say "well, it used to be worse"
It's not about DC, or any other city. It's about creating an authoritarian state, it is blatantly obvious. How can't you see that?
The president moved an old sex trafficker buddy to a summer camp with yoga classes for God's sake! He takes bribes to have the FTC stop investigating you! What happened to Ivana? Epstein? Wake TF up!
Bags full of at least 30 “fraudulent oxycodone pills,” which appeared to be fentanyl, 210 grams of crack cocaine, 600 grams of marijuana, 64 grams of hashish oil were all seized, totali…

Centrist DNC Dems do. But the progressives correctly point out that the crime and violence in DC doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens because people are driven to desperation in an economy where ICE gets nearly $30 billion for its enforcement budget while HUD's affordable housing programs see a nearly 50% budget. The defense department gets $1 trillion while medicaid is slashed. Billionaires get massive tax breaks while needy families see food stamp payments cut.
Sending in the military to try and control the population while making life more difficult for the poor and working class may seem like an authoritarian flex. But the US military is not like the military in third world countries that is hand picked by the dictator and kept well paid to be loyal. The US military is made up of people who come from the same poor and working class communities that Trump seeks to control through force. National Guard members are already upset with these bogus deployments and feel like they are being used as a political prop. It is not a stretch to imagine that these troops would turn against their leaders if asked to beat down the communities they have dedicated themselves to serve and defend against our enemies.

The people who you are talking about, who are supposedly driven to desperation, have the highest obesity rates of anybody in the history of the planet. Dopey liberals are always in a position of having to minimize the successes of capitalism. To do this, they take literally everything for granted. By all rights many of these people should be starving to death, but they’re morbidly obese.

Correct.
And we don't need HUD, Medicaid, or food stamps.
I live in southern California.
If I was ever in danger of starving, I'd find an avocado or orange tree.

How are people desperate? In the US the poor have iPhones. In actual 3rd world countries the poor are basically starving.
And it's also not like they're stealing bread to feed their children. Carjacking and shooting someone, or looting a random store, is just criminal behavior.

Well, they are all slimming down rapidly now that RFK, Jr. has switch corn syrup to cane sugar and has Steak and Shake using beef tallow.
The obesity crisis in this country is not a success of capitalism. It is one of its worst failures. People are getting fat because corporate driven agricultural practices and food production put a premium on profit over health. Grocery store shelves are full of products that are manufactured to sit on shelves for months thanks to tons of preservatives and chemicals and are highly processed in order to escape our natural sense of satiety so people eat more than they should (and then buy more and more). Poor people often have it the worst because their neighborhoods do not have the major grocery chains and they have to shop at Dollar General, etc. where there is very little in the way of fresh produce and most of what is affordable is highly processed garbage. Worse still, many poor people work more than one job, spend long hours commuting to and from work and have little to no time to prepare meals. They end up eating fast food and get fat because they have no time for exercise and even if they have time, there communities have no park space and they cannot afford a membership to a health club.
