I told my betting friend. If I could bet in Maryland, I think i might for BLake and the upset. He was like plus 700 or something. He's run 3 200s this year with a 20.20 pb and also ran like 1006 with a .21 reaction time.
Am I the only one who doesn’t care at all it was slow? Everybody in this thread saying “we need pacers”… Dawg, we get pacers and we see the classic Gebriwhet, Fisher, Bekele finish we see every month on the Diamond League.
this was actually exciting. I’m here for it
Only track nerds will care about this. Running as fast as possible while winning is even more exciting.
Yeah? It can be. But you see a fast race with Ingebrigtsen and Aregawi on the start line and you know the outcome when the gun goes off…
I don’t want every race to be slow, but this one was certainly exciting at the end, and anyone could take it. If the fast guys want to stand a chance they have to get tough and swap off the lead themselves. They have to actually be tacticians
crowd predicted, low, Jamaicans never show for track ever.
aghast with pace, every D1 walk on can run
amused with guys without a kick, waiting for sure death
a mile to the finish wanted to bet a ton on Teare, he's in great shape and has the best mile and 800, so duh... that's the bet
Fisher was predicted to be very underrated for speed. he exceeded my expectations with a 51x, and look at him in the stretch, replay that and focus on Fisher, he was absolutely flying.
you realize that nobody was in oxygen debt 800m out
Also, the three runners in the field who had intense indoor seasons. Obviously still benefiting from their winter racing.
Grant said pre-race he was in good racing shape following some post-indoor-racing downtime but was not finely tuned.
Made the tactical mistake of being boxed late but made up for it with a huge 300 meter kick -- just like the Paris 5000. Thought I was watching a rerun, but this time Grant wins. However, he doesn't win if Jakob was running and in the lead at the bell. Can't give away that much ground with 400 to go. Something for Grant to clean up on Sunday in the 3000.

this was a display of 400 speed only.
Teare was no surprise.
Jamacians never show for track? Ever see the crowd for the HS Champs? Place is a sell out
That might be the most boring 5000m I've ever watched.
you have obviously never watched the N.Z 5000M Champs then . I clearly remember Nick Willis Quote "The most over rated thing in running is how good someone thinks their kick is ".
