As alarming as it is that this was discussed on Signal, and that there was a journalist included, isn't it equally alarming how minimal the discussion was in regard to actually launching a military strike?
I think we should.
I'm not so sure.
Europe are freeloaders, let's extract something.
Not sure the President will like this, but whatever, dude.
OK, if you want to, I'll so OK.
Here's how we're going to do it.
Woohoo! Team USA! EMOJI< EMOJI< EMOJI
Is this really how this administration is going to have serious discussions about whether to bomb people? I mean, this thread is barely worthy of a middle school student government deciding on games for a pep rally.
They talk of dropping bombs on people with the gravity of deciding to send out a memo at the office.

unfortunately, despite how we'd love to think of our leaders as outstanding examples of american citizenship...they aren't. They, like waltz, send emojis after an airstrike like we do to a friend after a good race.

I don’t see what’s wrong with sending emojis. So what? That’s not the problematic part despite the attention it’s getting.
Do you think that firemen are glad when they get an alert that a building is on fire? Are they happy that people are losing their property and potentially their lives so that they the can then be called into service?
There’s a difference between the satisfaction of mitigating loss versus wishing for the disaster to require your response.
Spoken like someone who's never had a dangerous job of any kind.
Fireman enjoy fighting fires. That doesn't mean they hope for them or advocate for starting them.
Generals, however, DO advocate for starting wars. War is the best way to get promoted as a high ranking officer and war is the fastest way to get rich as a former high ranking officer.
Eisenhower understood this 70 years ago and you still haven't figured it out...
This is such a poor yet unsurprising response.
So you essentially agree with me on fire fighters, except that I contend that they’re glad to have intervened and limited the loss of life and property, while you’re focused on enjoying the mechanics of being on the frontline. I question how enjoyable it is to be trying to get people in danger out of a building that’s in danger of collapse. It’s harrowing and sobering and one of the most honorable things another person can do, to put their life on the line for strangers. I just question that, after such stakes, that should they get home safely and think, “that was an enjoyable day at work.” Being proud of what you did during dangerous circumstances isn’t necessarily the same as enjoying the process.
On generals and wars: field commissions and advancement in a state of war certainly exist. But most in positions of leadership want to avoid risking the lives of their fellow men and women in uniform, if at all possible, and certainly not have their own career progress at the forefront of their decision making process. You wouldn’t want that, would you?

I am no fan of Jeffrey Goldberg. Frankly, this story is proof that he is a failure of a journalist. If I were in his shoes, I would have continued to stay on the text chain to see what else these clowns would accidentally leak, rather than leaving voluntarily.
But this isn't about Jeffrey Goldberg. This is about extremely dangerous levels of incompetence from the Trump Administration.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but I think he left because it is super illegal to try to get classified information, so once he knew they were real, he kinda had to. I don't have any security clearance, but I did my internship at a place with a lot of government contracts, and part of my training was how if I saw anything marked "classified" or "top secret" or something, I needed to tell my boss or the government immediately, and I definitely was not supposed to read anything that wasn't meant for my eyes. I'm sure anyone that has gotten a security clearance knows that these people would absolutely be charged and convicted if they weren't literal cabinet members.

Boomers and emoji etiquette, man. Just because the platform you're discussing matters of national security on offers emojis doesn't mean you should liberally use them.

I have never been in a group chat where someone sent :fistbump: :fire: :american flag: emojis to celebrate sending out a memo dawg what an embarrassing day for our country
I can't believe there are still people who think Kamala wouldn't have been so much better. What is it gonna take?
This is why you don't hire drunks. They always mess stuff up because they are distracted by their hedonistic impulses. I'm sure Hegseth felt terrible about it the next morning, but too freakin' bad. He can tell people how terribly sorry he is at his next AA meeting. We are talking about national security here and we don't need some boozehound running things.
Hegseth had nothing to do with it you mindless fool.

I think it's silly to assume one Signal chat is the only discussion that occurred in making this decision. Particularly when the CIC wasn't even in the discussion.
As always the left is outraged despite not even understanding what they're pretending to be outraged about.

Wow. Reading those Pete Hegseth real time text messages to the group are amazing!
He acts like a teenage kid trying to impress his friends. Like when kids play war game videos and pretend to be generals and such.
To say this guy is unfit to lead all branches of the military is the understatement for all eternity.
After reading the texts from Pete, the responses from the group become clearer. They all act like they are congratulating little Pete for doing so well in his video game war challenge because they have seen how excited he is about it. They see how much he wants to impress the group to show he is doing such a great job in his new role running the military.
Putin must be laughing his azz off and telling his buds that we aren’t giving up jack to these children.

It is old news that unqualified people taking a casual way of processing national security issues in this administration. The real news is that Vance is taking a much larger role in this administration, which could allude to Trump either having some health conditions or no longer interested in overseeing action plans being carried out. If I am betting, I will buy Vance, buy Signal, sell Trump, sell Musk.
