But I think the officer is doing a job and that job is trying to represent the interests of the public, not their personal interests, and even though whether they’re doing that job well or poorly is what’s up in the air, there’s an important hair to be split here.

I actually agree with you except for second sentence. Hard to believe I know, but I have had an experience or two in 67 years of life. I find, generally if you comply which he did not from jump street? As soon as he kind of swats not one but two guys hands down and they were NOT aggressive, and on it went. And using vile language on cops will never end well. Thats my opinion, I stand by it, Kerley could have easily, justified or unjustified just backed off and complied, it was not an unusual ask, at that point by Police.

As a dumb kid I had some run ins with the law and my mouth landed me in jail a couple times. As I got older and smarter I cooled the lingo and never saw another jail cell.

You will never ever win vs the cops. Just do what they ask and chances are you'll be ok, Ah....not talking abut committing a crime.

Before you make inaccurate statements why don't you watch some of videos, like the one where he is tased, and you will see there are are onlookers RIGHT THERE. Having a heated discussion/argument is NOT picking a fight nor breaking a law.

There was not a warrant there was a "probably cause" notification which means the police wanted to question him. Much different than a warrant.

Right On! This is exactly what happened. The officers were creating a tag-team context that they knew they could win my surrounding their "potential assailant". They over reacted to him and went into 'battle cage fight mode' pinning him in place for the takedown strategy. They don't care weather they're right or wrong, they just wanted to see it through. You could tell from the extended video that the officer didn't like what went down and was shaking his head and knew the whole thing was total unnecessary bull$hit. He knew from Fred's verbal response, (although belligerent) that they were NOT dealing with a "criminal drugged out person". This whole incident is totally reflective of the atmosphere of perception that pervades law enforcement and large men of color. So many legitimate arrests and take downs for good reasons out there but then completely mingled and mixed up and lumped in together with psychologically with non violent men who get tarred with thew same brush. The Police should NOT be Defunded!!!..... But rather given more funds for Public Relations Training. Fred needs to be completely exonerated for this 'zero empty void of a non existent crime'.

I have been there as in the stupid one getting arrested and every time I thought I was the victim but you know what I grew up and realized I was a stupid idiot in my 20's. He is not. Kerley fought law enforcement that is all the judge is going too see and he is going to body slam him legally!
