Dammit.
Today I did 25min trail jog + 4x100m track strides + 375m-ish on the track + 10min grass jog. Everything after the 25min jog was in spikes.
I'm pleased that I was able to do "a session", but, as detailed above, my extreme upper left hamstring area was tight, and it prevented me from pushing 800m today. It was sore on the cooldown jog, so I think I made the right decision not to go to 800m.
Jerry and I met up and determined that I would lead for 400m (good idea in retrospect, hahaha) in 71ish, then he'd take over the lead duties.
We hit 200m in what I thought was hi35....a bit slow. I felt quite cruisy. But after 300m, I realized that things were tightening and sore. I apologised to Jerry when he went by me at 375m ish, as I shut it down. It didn't feel hard for me effortwise, and I walked to the finish line in 71. Jerry must have been 70. We must have sped up that second 200m?
As I watched Jerry on lap 2 I thought to myself "he looks good....he's speeding up.....he may break 2:20". He did 2:15, hahaha. 70/65. Well done Jerry. I'm almost glad that I didn't continue on and hold you back.
I'll "cruise" for 3 days, then hopefully do a hard (1:44ish) 600m on Wednesday. Then I''ll decide about Nanaimo 800m on May 23rd.
I think it's time for changes now: 10km low intensity every second session, warmup + 100m to 10km at medium to race intensity + cooldown on the inbetween sessions.
