Thomas from BITR - MP is 8:55, runs all of this easy runs sub 9.
A LOT of 3:50-something marathoners could be 3:30-something marathoners if they didn't do that. Thomas is far from alone. But I assume is the difference is he has lots of people telling him not to do that. C'est le vie
He's a prime example of a runner not being able to leave his ego at the door.
lol Thomas is a 4:30 marathoner. Every time there’s a BITR video on a shoe and he’s loud mouthing through the whole thing I just turn it off because he’s completely clueless and has zero to contribute to any discussion of running.
What I would like to hear him talk about is the dumpster fire that is his personal life.
gotta be rough when you're ~18 years older than your third wife
What I find funny with shoe reviewers is how they all have supposedly perfect forefoot form, then they show wear on the heel. Not that I can talk, I have the worst running form ever but I do find that amusing as it's some kind of flex to have perfect form as if it'll make you faster. My main problem with Sagasu running is how pro Nike he is. We all have our favourites, but when he said he likes the Pegasus premium as a running shoe I knew he was taking the p*ss.
The ironic thing is that forefoot striking has it's downsides too. I run like i'm tiptoeing through the goddamn tulips, and it's probably a limiter in some respects. I'm pretty much all knee drive and no power out the back of my stride, so I'm comically bad at hills. I'm too damn bouncy so I struggle with turnover for faster stuff. Supershoes don't work well for me since most of the energy return comes from elsewhere in the shoe, and anything lower-profile is getting harder to find. I'm also not that fast, and I can't even be a shoetuber because it looks so darn silly. Pick ya battles and all that.

Slight deviation from the YouTuber specifics but the claiming of “x position Brit” really is a farce, and throws up lots of questions.
How and why was Phily awarded the Bronze UK medal? Was the podium done ahead of the non-elites finishing?
Of course the two races are not comparable and a debate can be made “in favour” of each: the earlier start time & cooler weather, plus added luxuries of the elite such as hotel and warmup tent etc etc versus having hundreds of men to run with and the option of a person pacer
What bothers me is the inconsistency- last year Molly Smith was given the bronze medal from the Masses - did UKA change the rules subsequently?
If I were Lucy Jones I would be asking for my medal back!
Another curious character is SagasuRunning, who shares some interesting analyses—but constantly emphasizes that he’s a forefoot runner and regularly does 100–200m all-out intervals on the track in Dragonfly and Victory spikes. He often points out how certain shoes aren’t suitable for slow heel strikers. Every time he mentions—about ten times per video—that he’s a forefoot runner, he lets out a smug little chuckle.
Haha, very true.
I'll give him props for being one of the very few shoetubers to present his shoes in amazingly clean condition when reviewing them on camera. He made a video on how he cleans/washes his shoes. Actually inspired me to wash my shoes more often and more thoroughly.
Questionable whether Jake should have been allowed to jump back into the race after dropping out from pacing the elite men, but hey ho...
The only London Debrief I am keen for is Part 4 of the Alex Yee Detour... Maurten set up a lovely interview with him and Kipchoge, then completely ruined the atmosphere with an awkward set of pre-arranged questions

Who knows. But anyone who follows the sport knew that Lucy should have been on the elite start, after all she has a similar HM pb to Bowden. Maybe Lucy didn't want all the attention.
Very true - she may well have chosen to be in the masses. I am naive to the top end of the sport but I believe there’s more to it than simply whether they want the attention: surely the elite field warrants appearance money? And the difference between being a UK medalist would impact contract bonuses and (potentially) ability to get a better contract going forward? Or do brands these days not care and it’s all to do with follow count

I know they get hotel, accommodation and the superstars like Kipchoge get appearance fees. However, I'd be curious if the likes of Rose, Phily and Holly are getting an appearance fee. The organisers hardly need the type of exposure popular youtubers bring; however, I assume they want people like Kipchoge and Kiplimo who are going to push the human limits of what can be achieved.

In the UK, championship races are gun time so that's why she got the bronze. I know they set off way ahead of the masses but that's the rules.

For me it's the pose he's always doing with the shoes. I hate the word, but it literally makes me cringe every time I see it. I don't understand why anyone takes BITR seriously - they're an advertising company masquerading as objective reviewers, and they hardly run, at that. There have been times when Thomas is running 0-10 miles/week and yet mysteriously churning out shoe reviews, commenting on the "durability" and "bounce on long runs." Okay...
I’m trying to think of a kind way to say this, but, well, one of the reasons I like Ben Felton is he’s just such a dorky weird looking dude, which just helps him seem authentic and not arrogant at all. His girlfriend matches him so well in appearance, that, well, how can you not like this dorky unattractive couple? It sounds kinda bad, but really I like them a lot because they are just so far from your typical influencer type who are all about how they look etc., it’s nice to have the very ordinary guy just taking about his running while also being a pretty darn good runner. He’s the opposite of the shirtless dude running marathons in jeans.
Yeah they both kind of look like if Sid from Ice Age shagged Skinny Pete from Breaking Bad, that's what you'd get.
