I'll always put in a good word for Ben Parkes, I met him in person once, with no cameras or any other people really around, and he was really nice and took the time to chat. Seemed like a good bloke.
Another curious character is SagasuRunning, who shares some interesting analyses—but constantly emphasizes that he’s a forefoot runner and regularly does 100–200m all-out intervals on the track in Dragonfly and Victory spikes. What I find funny with shoe reviewers is how they all have supposedly perfect forefoot form, then they show wear on the heel. Not that I can talk, I have the worst running form ever but I do find that amusing as it's some kind of flex to have perfect form as if it'll make you faster. My main problem with Sagasu running is how pro Nike he is. We all have our favourites, but when he said he likes the Pegasus premium as a running shoe I knew he was taking the p*ss.

Yeah he's a nice enough chap - met him at the expo. I'm pretty sure he's mildly autistic, which explains the odd character traits that often get blasted here. People need to lay off him a bit.

I think this last line nails the major problem with a lot of these shoetubers. It really doesn't matter if they're barely sub 4 hours or sub 2:20, it's about authenticity and honesty. Unfortunately, that's not a strong suit for most of the people regularly discussed. It doesn't sell coaching plans or affiliate products to say "hey, I may be fast but I don't know anything about training or racing the marathon and I just got lucky with a great PR and natural talent." Same goes with going "I'm slow so I probably shouldn't give my opinion on high performance products." They all dump honesty and integrity out the window in favor of the might advertising dollar.
whoa, Ben Parkes is an emotional guy! I've never watched one of his videos before... that was a lot. Seems authentic, though, which is more than I can say for most.
Hot take: Phily would be better off running CIM than a Fall major. Yeah, it's not a standard eligible course, but if you're going to run Boston (which has to be her next step) it's a good analog. And "I'm British WON the US National Champs," is a great thumb nail and would sell lots of On Shoes, Yummo bars, Coros watches and whatever else Phily is hawking these days. Plus it has a great prize pool and in most years Phily would definitely contend for the lead, if not be the favorite to win.

A LOT of 3:50-something marathoners could be 3:30-something marathoners if they didn't do that. Thomas is far from alone. But I assume is the difference is he has lots of people telling him not to do that. C'est le vie.
The most fun youtube right now to watch is Jakob I think. Getting the insights into his training and lifting and seeing the personality come out is really cool. I am curious how many days a week he is working on those cars haha
I’m trying to think of a kind way to say this, but, well, one of the reasons I like Ben Felton is he’s just such a dorky weird looking dude, which just helps him seem authentic and not arrogant at all. His girlfriend matches him so well in appearance, that, well, how can you not like this dorky unattractive couple? It sounds kinda bad, but really I like them a lot because they are just so far from your typical influencer type who are all about how they look etc., it’s nice to have the very ordinary guy just taking about his running while also being a pretty darn good runner. He’s the opposite of the shirtless dude running marathons in jeans.
I usually like Phily's videos and find them authentic but this one was rough. That was the smallest swing ever, she was on world standard pace for a whopping 5km. She mentions she is 3rd Brit (forgets to say it's out of 4, one jogged it in and a non elite was faster).
Just come out and say you massively overestimated your fitness and/or overtrained. That voiceover from the dead trying to frame it as an act of heroism is beyond cringe. Starting to suspect that the initial talk with the coach might have been shot after the race...

Please don't let us ever find you on YouTube so us losers have to pick you apart, or as least don't be unlikable, be FOD. disagree... 9min miling will still feel very easy for someone whose 3.5 / 4 hour race pace in 9min miling - especially if you factor in the usually heavily slow and probably walk some of it/drop there guts
instead of referring it to marathon pace, refer to time...if a 2:20 marathoners marathon pace is 5:20 per mile, what would there 3.5 / 4 hour race pace be... something around 6:30 - 7min miling? this is the pace a 2:20 marathoner would do there easy running at

Nah i think he should make a channel, that's one I reckon would legit be good if the thread is anything to go by.
If you thought Phily Bowden claiming third Brit was a stretch (there was a faster runner in the masses), then Holly Archer takes the selective statistics one step further... numerous times in her Youtube she mentions her '4th Brit and 13th place' - failing to mention there was 13 women in the race, and that 12 women ran faster in the non-elite.
