Trump just murdered four more people without due process. You know, trying it out. Seeing how the 'no due process' goes. What he can get away with. He is praying for civil disobedience to break out in the US so he can start shooting people on American soil.

The bolded part above is what is a little irritating about it. If you're 100% physically male or female, I really don't care "how you identify." You're a boy or girl. Wanna be the most effeminate boy ever? Have at it. Wanna be the butchiest girl ever? Knock yourself out.

And what's strange about this to this getting-old-guy is that that has been significantly accepted for a few decades now (and yes, I know not nearly universally/comprehensively). But if we were having this conversation in, say, the 1970s or earlier, I could understand it more, when boys and girls "not acting their gender" was far less accepted. I scratch my head about why we never had to worry about how Boy George or KD Lang "identified" on a given day, but......for SOME REASON, we now would seem to need to?

Yes. I have voted for republicans and always considered myself a "middle of the road" person with some liberal lean (human rights) and some conservative lean (fiscal responsibility), but always a " life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" American.

Trump is not a conservative. He is a self aggrandizing jackazs who believes he is above the law. He has convinced 30+% of the country of this. He is now ripping the country and the Constitution to shreds with attacks on free speech and due process, deploying US military forces against citizens, using the DOJ as a bludgeoning tool against free speech and political rivals, blatant financial corruption (selling pardons, making personal business deals with US sanctions / tariffs, untraceable crypto).

Maga cheers because he owns the libs or something. Meanwhile the dollar is tanking, allies are distancing, prices are up, job growth stopped, taxes are up (tariffs), science is being crippled, government services are suffering (before shutdown), division is bigger, lies are bigger.

People don't know a lot, but they do know the difference between a boy and a girl. Some dems have fudged this difference and that has passed on a 'I am stupid and I will lie to you' message.

The trans issue is very similar to the right wing fight against gay marriage in the 90’s. It solidifies the evangelical base vote. And many more. But the trans group is better to demonize because they are so small and can’t fight back. They have zero political power.

The scare tactics are the same.

Your list at the end made me think: Imagine the bazillions of extremely self-satisfied words that have been expressed - written and spoken - by Americans since the dawn of our country extolling how incredibly special and great and profound our country and system are.

Yet, when we stumbled into an authoritarian leader and the resultant rapidly expanding loss of freedom, rule of law, decency, honesty, etc., the ONLY thing that MIGHT have saved us was enough people saying, "Geez, stuff is getting too expensive" (.....maybe I'll vote for a Democrat this time).
