Does anyone actually have a plan for that? My favorite part about it is the federal government holds like 85% of the 1.5 trillion in debt so a reduction or forgiveness plan is actually a "tax payers footing the bill" plan

As long as loans are forced by gov, they will never come down. It's almost as though the gov, the banks, and the universities are playing a money game... gov >>>(force lending)>>>banks>>>(interest)>>>universities>>>(inflation)...
Kind of like home lending (Freddie/Fannie, etc.)

I think the 'reduce debt' thing is more than debt forgiveness - it is looking forward to the next kids going to college and trying to get more states to have tuition-free college for low and middle income kids.

Trump has never had an approval rating that exceeded Obama's during the same time points of their presidency's. He also has never been better than GW bush. He had a very few days he was better than Clinton. He was never better than GHW Bush. He is actually tied with Reagan at the same point. For one, he is saying how it is unfair that Obama had 0% rates to help the economy and that the rates are now about 2% which hurts the stock market.
The rates are adjusted to the economy, so if he wants to tout a good economy then he has to deal with the rates that correspond.
And he is also saying that if he had 0% interest rates then he can pay down the debt.

There is no rate that will help you pay down the debt if you run a deficit - especially a trillion dollar deficit.
