Agreed. He has turned into a greater threat than I also thought possible. I had no idea that "Republicans" would enable his behavior to the degree that they have. I put "Republicans" in quotes because Trumpers have abandoned the general tenets of the Republican Party. "Lindsey Graham won't allow Trump to thumb his nose as the Rule of Law," I told myself right after the election. "Paul Ryan won't just let Trump do anything he wants," I told myself right after the election. Turns out Lindsey has no integrity and Ryan has no balls. They are all RINOs now, but not disguised as Democrats, disguised a despot loyalists.
I like a check on power even when there is a Democrat in the White House, but Donald Trump needs a bigger check on power than any President before him. He is crazy dangerous.
What always gets me is the "Wow Lindsey Graham used to be a lot better than this." Graham and McCain were both partisan hacks that had the occasional moment of sanity but for the most part toed the party line, not to mention they both never saw a bomb they didn't want dropped on someone. It's understandable for 20 year olds who just started paying attention but I figured you, the almighty knower of everything, could remember not too far back when Graham was pretty much on the level of Mitch McConnell in terms of obstructing Obama.
I mean McCain even endorsed Bush in 2000 after the Bush campaign dragged him through the worst of the worst mud and insinuated he was crazy from his days as a POW. He had a good moment when he disagreed with that lady at the town hall in 2008 and everyone booed him, but that just shows you how low the bar is set for politicians.
much of that is true, but the handful of moments that McCain became a statesman were great and important. Those few times will be remembered.
Well them and his wrecking the country by nominating sarah palin.
