Wouldn’t be surprised if he withdraws. He has zero chance of medaling with the fitness he apparently is in. What’s the point of someone like him racing if he can’t compete to win? Better to just realize you’re not in the shape you were hoping and go home

I think he knew he wasn't ready for the 1500 and just ran the first heat to get back in a racing mindset. He knows he can't do well at both at the moment. I think he could have finished a bit stronger but is saving it for the 5000 and a podium finish is still a good bet. Gold? Maybe not.

I don't think Jakob has been able to train properly the last couple months. From what he said before and now this seems like it was not a smooth last two months or else he would be better
