If you support democrats, you are against stopping crime. Otherwise federal troops would not be needed. In all of these dem cities, there are no bail policies, no or light sentencing, calls to defund the police, protests whenever some violent thug gets arrested or killed, etc. This doesn't work and crime has gotten out of control. Law abiding inhabitants of these communities shouldnt have to live like this just because dems either intentionally encourage criminals to flourish. These cities have had the chance to clean things up and they've done the opposite. Time for the federal government to step in and take care of things to regain some accountability. In this case, the federal government is like the responsible parent stepping in to assist their misguided helpless teen kid who is in trouble

At what point does "crime" merit a declaration of a public emergency, the unprecedented seizure of local law enforcement and use of the military to establish domestic order? In what way does overall crime in D.C. rise to level of a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or out-of-control ongoing riots? What, specifically, needs to happen for this "emergency" to be lifted? Why has this only become an emergency NOW? Even if the crime numbers (which are at 30-year low) are "fake," there has not been any sudden, dramatic increase in crime. It's just a whim! Based on the rationale currently being provided, what prevents this from being used in any city, anywhere, anytime Trump feels like it?

It's amazing how Republicans just make up stuff and say it like it's a well-known fact. You think blue cities have no bail policies and no sentencing? Go ahead and name ONE. All the fear mongering about "defunding the police" but NOBODY actually eliminated funding for police. Not even close. Only a handful of cities reduced their bloated police budgets at all in 2020-2021 and in almost all cases the funding rebounded in the following fiscal years. Protests have been about excessive use of force, not arresting criminals and you know that good and well.
