Teare might be the fastest miler in the group. Will be interesting to see if he can sneak a win.
Almost. I think he could have taken it had he not got boxed bigly on the last back straight.
lol @ hagos, just like the Olympic 5k, blast the first 200 of the last lap and gets walked down. Should maybe stop blasting out of a cannon at the bell.
Honestly this is probably what every single one of these guys was hoping for. A little tempo with a fast last lap for some workout purposes without overstretching it.
Yep. Because many of them have behind the scenes said that they are quote “training through” this. Which is an absolute catastrophe if you are Johnson promoting this as the pinnacle of the sport, racing, rivalries.
And yet surely someone in the ranks there (Kyle Merber?) could have pointed this out as a potential issue they could have problem solved around to avoid this. And also, it’s only going to get worse as we go along in this “series”. Yikes.
I guess they also don’t wanna be spent for the next race
I can’t believe Fisher took that after being terribly boxed in at 400. I’m actually less surprised by Jacobs and Teare finishing that well, reminiscent of Cooper’s win over Nuguse a few years back
Dude the fact that Teare even got there with how many times he stutter stepped trying to get through on the inside is insane. If he had just defended his position going into the bell he would have won that so handily. Bad tactics cost him.
I enjoyed that 5k. The slow start built anticipation for when someone might inject some pace, and having everyone still in it going into the last lap made it unpredictable who would win.
Not every distance race has to be a fast time trial.
Fun finish but winning with 14:39 at this level is inexcusable.
Bad take. We got to see mf TEARE and JACOBS duking it out for the win in front of Gebrhiwet and Kwemoi. If they want to win, it’s in their hands to push the pace. This is racing. I’m a GST convert
Am I the only one who doesn’t care at all it was slow? Everybody in this thread saying “we need pacers”… Dawg, we get pacers and we see the classic Gebriwhet, Fisher, Bekele finish we see every month on the Diamond League.
this was actually exciting. I’m here for it
I usually find sit/kick races pretty annoying, but I actually felt the tension building the longer that went on , and there were just enough pace changes and jockeying during the race to make it interesting. Definitely enjoyed the racing.

Whooo, Sonya Richards Ross giving Matt Centrowitz a laughing side-eye for him dropping an S-Bomb on TV. Lol. I love it; I think she got a bit unravelled for a moment.
I am sure folks will talk about the quality of the production—which can use some work. And the quality of the crowd—which is sparse on a Friday night (but filling up a wee bit with the 100 coming).
Still, I'm loving it. Gotta work a bit more on the production and the vibes, but it's better than anything else about right now in Track!
Also, love Dylan taking it near the end, with Coop and Grant charging in at the finish! Love it!
Tomorrow should be more fun; I hope more crowds come.
Early days ladies and gents, early days! But I'm enjoying it, and looking forward to more!

Only track nerds will care about this. Running as fast as possible while winning is even more exciting.
