Exactly, sure. 3:26.73 is clearly stronger than 3:44. Even when the latter is not raced with tailwind. But it was in Kerr's case.
You really didn't now that 3:26.73 is the clearly stronger mark
Only because Ingebrigtsen ran it. Kerr's performance was actually better. Unpaced and ran the last 800 faster than Ingebrigtsen's best over the distance. Huge winning margin.
There are currently several guys vying for the top spot. If Kerr gets more hardware and maybe faster times he undoubtedly gets it. Same with Hocker. But Ingebrigtsen has had too many championship losses over the last couple of years to have the top spot. Another championship loss and he's finished over the distance.
Interesting! How can that be, how many championship losses does Hocker have? By my count he didnt win one olympics and two world championships? Thats on par with Jakob, except he didnt medal in the world championships either. How come is he still a candidate? Better PR?
What about Kerr? Two olympics without a win and one wc?
Are Hocker and Kerr also finished over the distance with another loss?
If Kerr won at the Olympics he would be the current best. His silver reduces his claim. Hocker won the biggest race but has done nothing much else. Ingebrigtsen has the fastest time but lost the big races, which has happened to him since 2021. No one is dominant. There is no clear "best" over the distance now.

Kerr hasn't run 3:44. He hasn't finished the last 800 faster than Ingebrigtsen's PB.
3:26.73 is worth 1 second faster than Kerr's time.

Why have Ingebrigtsen lost the big races and not Kerr or Hocker? I: Won one olympic gold, two silvers in the two wc and nothing at one olympics, H: Won olympic gold, nothing at two wc and one olympics, K: Won wc gold, bronze and silver at olympics, nothing at one wc.
I dont disagree that strongly when it comes to the rest you said but I dont follow you on that one.

Like when Kerr finished several seconds behind Jakob last time they met?
One race. And not the Olympic final, which was the race that mattered. You left out the 3 in a row before that that he has lost to Kerr. Kerr also ran the last half of the 5th Ave mile faster than Ingebrigtsen can run 800. He would have been forced to a walk again.
Weird, I'm not seeing any Olympic gold medals that Kerr has won, did you watch a different Olympics than the rest of us?

Not a different Olympics - he doesn't watch Olympics (or athletics at all) anymore.
The last Olympic races he saw might have been Halberg and Snell (Walker in Montreal?) winning in Rome.

Or in other terms (I don't want to say that Kerr lost when he won an olympic silver for intance):
K: 2XNo olympic gold, 1x no wc medal
H: 1XNo olympic medal, 2x no wc medal
I: 1XNo olympic medal, 2x no wc gold.
Each of these three runners have "lost" (not won gold) in three of the four last global finals. Hocker was not on the podium for three of them, Ingebrigtsen was not on the podium for one of them, Kerr was not on the podium for one of them.
Why is it only Ingebrigtsen that has "lost the big races"? There is something that I don’t see here.

It's called mental illness.
That's a very ambitious goal from Kerr. Can he still achieve it? For sure yes, but currently he is way behind Ingebrigtsen - that's not debatable (if we start this "era" with the 2020 season).
The absolute minimum which he has to do, is to win another global Gold (and the others don't), improve both his PBs to the Ingebrigtsen region and run more races on the cirquit with a good winning record.
But looking at the ages of the four current BIG names, I'm very sceptical: Kerr (27), Nuguse (25), Ingebrigtsen (24), Hocker (23). Then there are guys like Laros (19).
Kerr still has to improve, and all the other (much) younger guys not - how should this happen?

I'm looking at what Ingebrigtsen achieved in 1500 championships since 2021. The others I have mentioned have done better. He still has the best time - but not by much.

Kerr got the silver to Ingebrigtsen's 4th. Add to the that WC gold the year before to Ingebrigtsen's silver. You obviously only see what you want to see.

Ok, that is convenient to rule out J.I, but lets look at the time since 2021. Kerr have not won gold in 2/3 championships, in your words he have lost the big championships?
