Post class of 2027 era at Jesuit will be like the post class of 2023 era at Newbury Park

There was Luca Miller and Strummer Beckett who both ran 4:44 as 8th graders last season (which were the tops times for ms in the Sacramento area) but Beckett is at West Campus and I’m not even sure where Miller ended up or if he’s even running xc.

Yo, Little pinheads. Walt Lange has been at Jesuit way way way before you all were born. And they always have solid teams...ALWAYS.

I guess you haven't been watching the last 40 years. They will be just fine.

Responding to myself here, only thing that could really change them from still being a powerhouse would be the day that Walt Lange retires.

Saugus does not have any chance. They are not the teams from the 2010s. Last year I think they finished 14th.

I didn’t think anyone would put San Clemente at #1, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they end up as the best team in the Southern Section this year. They have a really great coaching staff.
And next year they bring just about everyone back, and they could be as good as the 2022&2023 teams when they finished 7th and 8th at NXN.

Rich must know something we don't. Maybe they got transfers? Having San Clemente above Mira Costa and Beckman is wild.

Yeah, he must know something. Normally I trust his rankings at this stage more than my own because he has access to information about transfers and significant injuries that I don't.

Not only is the #1 ranking weird, it is weird on a few levels.

1) He says San Clemente is the "Clear #1". Wow, they would need more than 1 more good transfer to be that great, or an O. Hunter level transfer.

2) He says the next 3 are in tight battle for 2nd. It looks to me like there is noticeable gap between Beckman and Crescanta Valley. He also says Crescanta Valley is "More dangerous than you think", which makes me wonder why he thinks that.

3) He says Beckman is the team with the most upside. Huh? They only have upside because they are ranked too low. So he may know about injuries or roster changes.

Cresenta Valley is always more dangerous the you think even with out transfers. It's clear they have one of the best coaches in California. Their lineup always looks mediocre at the start of the season and at the end they come out of nowhere develop their runners and crush everyone. It happened last year. The year before. It will happen this year. Coaching is the most important

This is the very same reason why the Southwest region is so good. They have the best most capable coaches.

Yeah Crescenta Valley always finds their way to the state meet no matter how many seniors they lose. Tells a lot about their program.

Huge example: Eddie Sion. Ran 16:02 at Clovis just to run 15:04 at state that same season and place 5th.

Southern Section Hart moves up to DII and Palos Verdes moves up to DIII.

Now if they just double private school enrollment for even playing field.
