History will judge the real heroes to be the women who refused to be bullied into giving up women's-only sports. They have inspired many who will soon follow their heroic example. I applaud the women from Utah and the state of Utah.
Were the forfeits a result of a player vote or were they from politics outside of the team? I read that the Wyoming players voted to play, but the game with SJSU was forfeited, anyway.
to underline something on the "wyoming vote override," in international soccer they will kick your team out of world soccer tournaments if you allow politicians to come in and override the national soccer governing body. the idea is to avoid the teams becoming playthings of politicians.
in this situation, UT is not ted cruz's plaything, and wyoming's volleyball team doesn't report to its politicians.
They made a huge impact on the future of women fighting to keep men out of women’s sports.
They also sent a loud message to universities that if they choose to put men on women’s teams, the women will fight it, voice their concerns, and take them to court.
They also sent a loud message to men contemplating competing in the women’s category that they will not be welcome and to expect to rightfully be treated like a cheat and a bully.
Seven out of 19 players on the San Jose State roster are in the transfer portal according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Two freshmen, four sophomores, and a junior. They may have trouble recruiting people to fill the spots.

a conference runnerup is not going to have trouble refilling the team. bull.
i get you found your little wedge issue but y'all's theory of what happened is an orwellian fib. dem politicians were not seeking out votes on the issue. what happened is the GOP put up votes on banning the practice, which then forced the dems to vote one way or the other in defense of the trans folks. they then ran on it like dems were agenda pushing when in reality it was the GOP forcing divisive votes when the focus should have been on economics.
bringing it back to topic, they will have no trouble getting kids because kids want to play d1 volleyball, it's an average program but successful in its conference, above average academic school, the program has some degree of visibility now, and given its wedge issue status, what drives you away might grab some kids just the same. not everyone has your politics. i mean, you grasp that for every kid who wants to go to hillsdale or bob jones or liberty there is some kid who wants reed or RISD or brown or wesleyan, right?
it does sound like the team maybe got a little toxic amongst itself (lawsuits, coach suspended) but the trans player is probably graduating which means end of the practical issue.
and even then it's my experience when one sandpapers the issues off a sports team it tends to get worse at sports. talent is talent. the trans kid was their best player.

Thanks for bringing attention to this crowdfunder, JAHJ. I didn't know about it before.
I made a sizable donation myself, and I'm sharing the link you so kindly provided with others I know who share my view that male athletes who claim to have a trans gender identity like Blaire Fleming don't belong in women's NCAA sports - or any other kind of women's and girls' sports.
Much as you might enjoy basking in the feelings of moral superiority you get from sitting on a high horse looking down your nose and sneering in contempt at women like coach MBS for standing up and speaking out against the incursion of male athletes into women's and girls' sports, there are plenty of other people in the USA and around the world who think it's a good thing that so many "women of a certain age" like MBS - and me - have been putting our money where our mouth is, so to speak, to support young female athletes, rather than siding with the male interlopers you cape for.

Sounds like a pot is calling a kettle black.
Coach MBS was let go, not because she stood up and spoke out. (She was not fired. She was on a yearly contract which was not renewed at the end of the season. This happens all time for all kinds of reasons.)
She was let go because she maliciously lied about one of the players on her team, as well as a player on another team in her complaint to MWC and in her court filing. She accused Malaya Jones of conspiring with Blaire Fleming to cause injury to Brooke Slusser during the match between SJSU and Colorado State. This conspiracy theory was immediately debunked by the video footage of the match.
What did Jones, a cis woman, do to deserve such defamation? Why did Coach MBS have to tell such a blatant lie if she has a good argument for the case? Does she believe the end justifies the means because she is always "right"?
So she is lying about a cis woman who has done nothing wrong. Is that why you have such sympathy for her?

Once again here you are claiming you have the inside scoop and already know all the details of events that haven't been formally and fully investigated yet.
The US Department of Education announced on February 6, 2025 that it was launching an investigation of San Jose State for violating Title IX because of the seemingly preferential way the school treated the male athlete it allowed to play women's volleyball and the apparently unfair way it treated the female students and staff who complained, including the steps the school took to silence, suspend and finally fire coach Melissa Batie-Smoose.
Yet here you are just 7 days later saying there's no need for any investigation at all coz you have powers of omniscience which already endow you - and you alone - with full knowledge of everything that happened.
And due to your supposedly unerring judgment, especially towards members of female sex, you're of course decreeing with total confidence that Batie-Smoose is an an evil harridan who "maliciously lied."
The problem is, mate, hardly anyone reading these threads is gonna take you at your word on this. Coz the majority of people who've been reading your posts on threads about sex and gender identity over the years have figured you for a dyed-in-the-wool "male chauvinist" who harbors enormous animus and resentment towards members of the female sex. And your methods of making a case for the misogynistic agenda you're peddling are so unpersuasive that very few people are likely to buy your know-it-all act and boss-man bollocks any more.
