Yeah, she doesn't care about the fans! She needs to be polite, do interviews all the time, and entertain me -- that's what's important! As a fan I am entitled to police her behavior.
All you guys are completely missing the point. 'Karen' sounds like a jerk, but there is a valid point there, for sure.
He (she?) isn't talking about NBC, he's talking about how the guys on this board treat the two --and he's at least partly right.
Mu gets lambasted, even though she's pretty incredible, and competes brilliantly.
Bryce gets a pass even when he competes like garbage.
And yeah, judging by the general tone of the content of the Boards, it's probably a pretty good guess that part of that is because she's black, and another part of it is because she's female.
People are desperate for a US distance or middle distance star.
Sure, which is why it's so embarrassing that people on here will go to such great lengths to defend Bryce Hoppel's embarrassing and pathetic performance while nit-picking every single thing that vastly more accomplished athletes like Noah Lyles or Sha'Carri Richardson or Athing Mu do.

Well then it should be a seamless transition as they and China displace the U.S.
Its different there, I mean the everyday culture of the people, not just the government, I lived there for a few years. Its funny to see people downvote who are actually culturally ignorant. Life is viewed differently and its difficult to understand for those who haven't lived there. Integrity and honest is not appreciated, they have different values to westerners and those aren't included, not hating at all, its their culture but it will be a problem in sports
Problem for corporate culture too. Had two of these them try to use chat gpt to answer interview questions for them. Also had some who were highly competent.

Well said, thank you.
My approach is apparently too high-end for these knuckle-dragger idiots to wrap their heads around.
No it's bc you already have put all of this in another thread. Maybe people want to just talk about the events ran today and not white vs black, male vs female in this specific thread. Go argue Mu vs Hoppel and people's reactions in the Mu thread where you started the conversation.

Stars always get more criticism and have to live up to much greater expectations. That’s the cost of being so good. ESPN spends a lot more time criticizing the quarterback than the right guard, even though the quarterback is much more valuable to the team.
If Mu wins tomorrow, the boards will sing. Just look at the reaction after she overcame the near fall.
I think the praise for Sha’Carri has actually been pretty strong this WCs — for both her performance and transformed attitude.
tough to match the speed and adrenaline of a race situation in practice. they can do better, but it's a lot harder than just counting steps at practice and running ONE race and nailing it. these guys are moving FAST
No it isn’t. There’s actually an adjustment you do for that. And it’s within such a small range that it should only affect the timing of the stick pass very slightly. And you have 20 meters to work with. Speed doesn’t matter as much as you think because at the time of the stick pass the runners should be approximately be marching speed if the coach measured correctly. It looks fast to a viewer but almost looks slow motion when you’re the one doing it. People that have actually run sprint relays will understand what I mean.
tell me about this adjustment. especially when they only get one shot at it. i have seen teams that get the whole season to work on it struggle to nail the timing. they get one chance. and for most of them it is their 2nd or 3rd priority
again with the mu/hoppel thing. why are we comparing reactions to race performances to reactions of how athletes conduct themselves outside of the race?
and i have commented that the criticism for Mu not stopping to be interviewed is stupid, but it's not an apples to apples comparison between the two.
there are plenty of white men who take as much or more sh!t from our posters as anybody else.
I think that everyone can see how upset Hoppel is with his performance and recall how much responsibility he thought of himself as taking on, because Sanya Richards mentioned it about a hundred times. Unfortunately, after rising so swiftly and getting fourth, he has been a shade back of where he was that undefeated year at Kansas and cannot step in for Donavan Brazier during his absence and carry the U.S. to medals. He might want to rethink his training situation for next year, shake things up, if he is going to realize his potential.
U.S.A. handoffs could have definitely been better, but to be fair, they weren’t the only team having problems out there. I watched the replays and:
Women’s race: Swiss had a terrible 1-2 pass out of the zone, CIV 2-3 crashed into each other, and the NED anchor took off too soon and just left their #3 runner. 1 dq and 2 dnf’s
Men’s race: Replays showed mostly Japan and U.S.A., but it looked like Jamaica had a bad 2-3 handoff, SA dropped the baton at 2-3, and Japan anchor looked back on his handoff (Japan uses an underhand pass). Italy’s baton looked like it had the smoothest ride around the track. Brazil DQ but not sure why.
We all get the USA feed, so of course they are going to focus on team USA , so it was interesting to go back just to watch the other teams.

Just what we need here is more white victimized! Thanks coach!

Seek and you shall find…no matter how many pretzels you have to twist into.
Again, I don’t even blame this on the athletes. It is quite evident year after year that we have a major coaching issue. The athletes change and the same problems keep happening where our athletes don’t even understand the basics of how handoffs or exchanges work.
Pick any High School Sprint coach and the US squads would do better than what we saw on Day 8 in the 4 x400s and 4 x 100s. Yes, even though the US won both 4 x 100s, 5 of the 6 relay handoffs in those two races were awful. Let alone the Carnes switched hands on his leg.
Amazing how fast the USA women ran considering the two terrible handoffs. SR passed TT at exchange 1. GT looks for the pass on exchange 2. Now, like every other USA team I can only wonder how fast those four could have run with clean handoffs.
Thanks. Do both countries get the bye? I thought the world champ bye overruled the diamond league champ?
If both the defending wc champ and the dl champ are from the same country, only one can go. (In the US, we specify that in that instance, the wc champ gets the nod). If they are from different countries, both go. The max number from a country is thus 4.
