Bizarre run from Hassan. Kipyegon's win was a foregone conclusion but running from the back like that meant she never had a chance, she was about 3-4 meters back at the bell and never narrowed the gap. Awful tactics.

Even if she was even with kipywgon at the bell she has to run 55 point to win no one is doing that
Hassan's race was credible. I thought she would be able to move past Welteji, but that was the 10000 rearing it's head, and yes, she left herself a bit too much work. No chance anybody was going to beat Faith regardless. I don't think anybody is beating Faith in the 5000 either, but Tsegay has a slim chance. Hassan will be battling Chebet for bronze.

LOL you think she was running for the gold. That's funny.
Seems smart to start the last lap at a huge disadvantage to the world record holder? If she was on her shoulder it's a whole different story.
No, not really. But could she have beaten Welteji not giving her 5 meters at the bell? Probably
I'm not saying she would have won it, but holy crap, she didn't even give herself the chance. There is no universe in which hitting the bell nearly a second behind Kipyegon is the best tactic.
Based on Hassan's near-win in the 10,000 and bronze in the 1500, she is the obvious pick for the 5000.
Really? Not the WR holder who just closed the same 1,500 in 56.6?
Or the 10k champion who beat Hassan head-to-head at 5k a month ago and might have had the tactical sense to win silver in the 1500? Hassan third favorite at best.
