I know carbon fiber is quite heat resistant so there is a chance they could have been subducted under the crust and then spat out in a volcano in Iceland or Greenland? Could the Navy been looking in the wrong places?
Personally, I would rather have diverse and intersectional folx (e.g. pilots or surgeons) rather than those who did better based off antiquated 'tests'.

if you look into it, you'll probably find it's mostly 50 year old white guys who lead people off on crazy adventures to all get killed.

Why was this guy so cheap? Not only did he decide to take people to insane depths, he decided to skimp on everything, and basically laugh about it. The more I read stories about him, the more I'm convinced he's mentally ill.
I do not think they have any chance of survival. However, what if a miracle happens and they are rescued? What does the CEO do then? Does he continue to go on other dives and insist that the sub is safe? Or does he refuse to go down again, which is basically an admission by the CEO that his sub is dangerous? If the company CEO refuses to dive, it is clear that NOBODY should be diving.
The company is finished regardless of what happens next
OceanGate is currently being sued by a couple who put $200,000 down for a trip on the submersible but there were multiple delays, one being a malfunction with the submersible. After this disaster do you really think ANYONE is going to want to go down in it?

Since news of the submersible's disappearance broke on Monday, the world has awaited any updates. Now, a friend of one of the passengers has come forward to share some details.
Regardless of the outcome, this has the makings of a blockbuster movie.
That being said, it's not looking good. I'm hoping for a miracle (which would make for a much better movie btw).
You really think someone would want to watch this tragedy? After the initial mishap, you have 5 guys in misery slowly dying for 4 days. Does the toilet even work now? Do they even have light? I can't imagine watching a movie about this.
