So Katelyn Tuohy is a terrible sportswoman. Who cares. Have you ever seen Tom Brady congratulate the opposing QB after a playoff loss? She has been the golden princess since high school. She doesn't care about the other runners. She didn't care about this rinky dinnk race. She has bigger fish to fry, i.e., the Olympics.
Who cares?
Actually, it is something most people care about.
Most people favor good sportsmanship over poor sportsmanship in all our sports heroes.
Of course, "hero" gets thrown around a lot these days and most of our "heroes" are anything but.
Tuohy is put in a tall pedestal around here and she will be heavily scrutinized for her good and bad performances and even moreso for her reactions to these performances. In this case, it is quite legitimate to scrutinize her performance, her choice to compete in a difficult double attempt, the consequences of choosing that double in light of not being 100%....and most of all how she handled losing and dropping out the 5k after losing the 15 badly. None of it looked good that day nor does it look good reflecting on it a week later.
Hope she learns from it and moves on positively.
Let me just start by saying WTF? This seems like an extremely biased take on the events of last Saturday. Even Rojo and Gault who are far away from being anything close to Tuohy simps praised her for taking a risk and attempting the double even though it didn’t work out and for trying a risky race strategy rather than just conceding the race to getting out kicked.
Flotrack had similar comments and also contradicted this bogus accusation of poor sportsmanship. TSR wrote a similarly themed article questioning the strategy (the opening lap) but otherwise had very positive comments about her past year overall and her future.
Now, to this issue of scratching the 5k. Tuohy was completely wiped out from the 1500, nothing physically left to give. 5k race in 90 minutes. Coach made the right decision. For those saying she should have raced anyway, what would have been your reaction when the obvious would occur? Just cut the crap - you only wanted one thing - the opportunity to gloat over another “failure”.
One final note: if you are agreeing with tammy j on anything, you’re doing it wrong.

I’m also a little curious about the male athletes after a race, do they have the same expectations for post race etiquette as the women? It doesn’t seem to be that way.
When Chris Solinsky beat Rupp at PJ, got the AR, and was the first non-African born man under 27:00 there was endless discussion here about whether Rupp had congratulated Solinsky, or, if he had congratulated him, if he'd done it adequately.
The detailed analysis of the video was painful. Relentless and painful.
Katelyn Tuohy should have just ran the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters. Or she could have ran the 5000 meters and 1500 meters. Two events and that's it. She could have 2 NCAA Titles. Instead she only has one title for Track this year. She is getting greedy and sooner or later will get injured. You would think she would go the easy route because if she gets injured again she could be out a long time or possibly permanently.

Gee I could have sworn she won both the 3000 and 5000 Indoors (in March of this year)?

Perhaps our first AI poster? Kinda get's it.
Touhy did run 2 events, 1500 and 5000.
Injury? Surprisingly Touhy has only had 1 major injury. Due nature of running, it's bound to happen again, but it most likely won't have anything to do with old injury or the NCAA plan.
