If so, I think we have different definitions of 'doing fine' and 'doing well."
UNC has been a perennial bottom feeder in the Big Sky. Certainly they've had a very small handful of individuals do well - but individuals doing well is not the same as the program. I imagine the coaching staff is operating way under the old scholarship limit (12.6 / 18) and is likely doing about as good as they can with limited resources.
Nonetheless, this program is NOT doing fine or doing well. They are fledgling at best with an occasional individual ray of sunshine. Just about every D2 program in Colorado is better than UNC's program.
No sour grapes; just observing sprint/hurdle transfers and noting facts. The fact is, UNC has consistently been at the bottom of the Big Sky and lost a major program builder in Campbell.
Perhaps the two incoming hurdlers will cover Campbell's loss, but looking at their TFRRS, this is certainly no T&F program in the sense of event coverage.
I don't blame the coaches - as I said before - they are likely handcuffed by few resources to compete as a program.
You must have been a former coach there or something. I don’t think those coaches there are really worried about what you think. They have developed world class athletes and put the school on the map. More importantly they are graduating their athletes. Can’t ask for anything more especially with limited resources as you so clearly identified.
It was a rough year for them. So many injuries and none of the 400 runners popped this year. Micah Larry would be clutch.
Yeah, never seen a year like this one for Florida. Sadly, tho, looks like Micah Larry is between Auburn and Texas A&M. Don’t know if either party had interest in the other.
