I’ll agree to disagree. The 8th place finishers resume doesn’t impress me much. Maybe I’m wrong, the time is good I just think she should’ve been a few spots higher and hanging on a bit longer. Thanks everyone for staying respectful even when we disagree.
How do you know she wasn't 100% maxed out? She ran a huge PB and it's likely that's all there was in the tank; I don't see how people can just think magically somehow she should haver been ever farther ahead of HER HUGE PB in a world championship final.
Few things for all the angry complainers to come to terms with so that you can enjoy these WC's...
1. NBC coverage sucks and will continue to suck. They do not care about T and F. Embrace it and move on.
2. Get Peacock+ and watch it all uninterrupted. Still weird coverage as some mentioned earlier, but it is better. I watched the 10k start to finish.
3. Stop complaining about having the distance races at weird times or of prime spots. The VAST majority of people are not interested in it.
It's not just T&F, they also routinely botch other major events like the olympics coverage. I refuse to accept this as the default, so I'll complain about it loudly any time I see it. It's disgraceful for the primary form of coverage that most people view to be so poor. It's great that Peacock+ is an option **this time**, but it's also been a bait and switch in the past where they claim full availability to drive new accounts but then delay or only partially show content. It's scummy.
Yeah you can. I would contact her wherever it happened as a result of her action, then trample her as she went down.
That was ridiculous. You guys think that’s fair? The race is 10,000m, not 9,980m and then cut people off. It’s first to 10,000m, not first to 9,980m or whatever.
It is unsportsmanlike and totally dishonorable. She should be ashamed, but I know some people lack the capacity to feel shame. At a minimum she should be DQ’d.
What about an appeal? That was flagrant.
I see you always telling people on these boards to stick to distance when they make sprint commentary. So ill just repeat that sentiment for you. Stick to sprinting, you dont have a clue what you are talking about here.
Although I am surprised by it, I defer to the board’s overall judgment on this one, although I would point out that it is not unanimous. But the 19-0 upvotes on your comment have me convinced that I am indeed out of my element.
Medal ceremony with the flags on the computer screen is just awful. 3 flagpoles, 150 flags and a couple of people to pull the rope, that's all they need.

It's a huge PR but a notch or two slower than her 5000m PR. She just hasn't run many 10k in time trial conditions.
This is sort of an average type performance. It is pretty much what you would expect from her.
Anyone with two brain cells knows that Gidey drifted into lane 2 in a state of exhaustion because she kept turning her head shocked that she wasn't yet being passed. No maliciousness at all. Gidey may have lost control of her body, but she has complete control of my heart!
That 10,000 was such high quality, PBs all over the place. You can't ask for much more. I was disappointed McColgan didn't run a little quicker but even a PB would have only put her in 8th or 9th. When it comes down to it, the superstars just have so much more over the final kilometre. It looked like they were on for 30-mid at halfway and Gidey taking it in 30:09 is too much for those second tier runners to live with even if they do have solid PBs from grinding or TT-style races.
There's a lot for the men to live up to after that, here's hoping they can give us just as good a race with 6 or so in contention at the bell.
