You're claiming the opposite; so long as your answering a question you can say whatever you want. If someone asked Rupp what he thought about Walmsley and he answered, "Isn't that the guy who got a DUI", would that a cheap shot or just answering a question?

Walmsley doesn't know Rupp, Salazar or whether Rupp even did anything wrong. He doesn't have to sit there silently; he can say he doesn't really know enough about what happened at NOP to have an opinion about Rupp, regarding Salazar.

Can anyone translate into English what this guy is trying to say?

Jim knows what his opinion is and answered honestly, where you want him to lie and say he has no opinion. Answering honestly is not classless it is having integrity.

Beyond all the shady dealings with NOP and the weird relationship with Salazar, the reason Rupp is so unlikable is because he seems like some robot created by Nike's PR team. His response to shoe technology in the post-marathon press conference, which was straight from the public relations department, perfectly demonstrates that.

You seem fixated on the fact that Rupp is faster than Walmsley. So what? Does being fast make a person right? If so, please go ahead and tell me about your sub-2:15 OT marathon finish. Don’t have one? Then why should you be allowed to criticize a superior runner?

Walmsley apparently has a problem with the fact that Rupp was so closely affiliated with someone who was banned from the sport for four years for doping. He specifically said he respects him but he’s not a fan because of the taint of doping. Again, so what?

There's been whole threads and hundreds of posts here of people saying the EXACT same thing about Rupp. I love his running and accomplishments since being just a few feet from him when he was getting ready to pass Sam Chelanga for the NCAA title. What I detest is Nike and their influence over usatf and iaaf and their culture of steamrolling every thing they come in contact with including producing shoes that clearly have an advantage.

Walmsley is sponsored by Hoka which is a direct competitor of Nike so it isn't surprising he isn't going to be rooting for him.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the idiot posters here were the same ones who have posted in the past about how much they hate Rupp.

There is a reason why Walmsley is so popular. A lot of those guys that finished ahead of Walmsley at the trials are virtually unknown. Only two guys on Strava beat Jim. That was Albertson and McDonald.

Of course what's probably stopping some of those guys from being more outgoing is the hate and abuse they would get from sites like this one.
