Is the shoe making the hard clicking sound in the race video? I don't get out much, but it that's the sound, it sounds like a spring for sure. If so , does the consumer version sound the same?

Course was less than ideal, too many turns as someone said. He almost falls over as he enters the long finishing straight toward the end, 12.13 in the video. Absolutely rockets down it, and finishes pretty fresh. More there definitely.
Next, Cheptegei will be making his half marathon debut at the world half in Gdynia in March. A duel for the ages with Kam?

I watched again Cheptegei's race in Monaco. The course isn't really fast, it had 2 uphill portions, an U-turn, a sharp corner and some other tighter than ideal corners. He could have gone up to 8-10 seconds faster on a course like the Prater and at least 5-6 on a course like Valencia where Rhonex ran.
With perfect weather shape and pacing, he can do a time-trial on a track in 12:41-12:43 range. However, this isn't even his best event, which is the 10,000, where he must be in 26:2x shape already, just like Rhonex. They should do an attempt together, being paced up to 5000m and then help each other with turns until 8000m or so to be on WR pace, then every man for himself.
No track racing has drug testing, the roads don't. It's a massive difference.

There's no way he'll break 2:05 in his life.
And yet people are like "OMGGG RUPP IS BACK..." like he's going to run 2:02.
Wha? and Kipchoge is 48 and he's braking WRs. So what?
Who cares if he doesn't break 2:05. That was never his goal. His goal was winning medals and gaining fame/money contracts. Guess what? He is a friggin Olympic bronze medal winner!! and a major marathon winner!! That is worth more than most of your top 100 or whatever marathoners you idolize and have a boy crush on.
In 2016, 2:08 runner Rupp was against not only Kipchoge but also 2:03 runner Biwott, 2:04 runner Lilesa, 2:04 runner Lemi, 2:04 runner Abera, 2:06 runner (and Boston winner) Korir.
The likes of you would not have even put him in the top 10 but look at that...he destroyed just about everyone. Was gaining fast on Lilesa near the end who was extremely lucky to get the silver. What happened to all your 2:03/2:04 runners?? Destroyed. Only Kipchoge survived.
Bottom line. you don't know nothing.
Kipchoge is younger than both bekele and Mo Farah. Like 36 years old or someting but people just act like he is some super old runner lol
Great run and beautiful form through out. Two things I noticed; that is some of the smoothest road surface I've ever seen, maybe people would run faster in the US if races were on freshly paved roads. Also, the mopeds seem a little too close to him and unfortunately that possibly could be ruled as assisting with pacing.
Drug testing is required for all road world records.

Do you know anything about anti-doping system or WADA/AIU? It looks like you don't...

Please tell me you're joking right? Of course the roads have drug testing. Because he broke the World record there is also testing that goes with that. Regardless if Joshua is running track or road, he is on the WADA whereabouts system as he is ranked top 30 in the World so he is subject to testing all the time

That's not true.
Prove me there is more money to some random 5k or 10k road race than there is in diamond league with prize money and apparence fees?
Both Kipruto and Cheptegei run on track. They just don't try to set the record for now.
No appearance fees or prize money for them at Diamond League because they've taken distance events away from diamond league. There is big appearance fees and big money on the road hence why Kenenisa's track records are safe for a very long time

A good chance we will see a new World record at the Olympics final 10000m. Rhonex know that his only chance to win is to try "destroy" the field with a very fast level race and the only runner that looks to have a chance to follow is Cheptegei (maybe Kamworor? ). If no qualification heats and direct final I think we will see a new WR if it`s not too warm weather.
It's not possible. Usually in the evening at the time of the olympics the temperature is between 22-28C, which is very hot for a very fast time. Also, who will help with the pacemaking? Alone from the gun he can't break the world record surely.
Kipruto needs to be in Valencia shape or better, have a max 20C temperature and get some help with the pacing, at least 3-5k. If he goes for it in a meet like Heusden or Hengelo, then sure, he probably smashes it.

The good thing about Fake world records like this is you are forced to look up the current
5000 record. It happens to be 12:31.
The good thing about letsrun posters is that you can always count on them giving out black pearls, even after a claim that information was “looked up”. The WR happens to be 12:37.
Cheptegei is the reigning commonwealth champ in two events and the reigning world 10000 and XC champ. I do agree that kipruto has not proven himself on the track yet.

He's 20 years old and is already a word champs bronze medallist on the track. I'd say he's proven himself there.
My point was it's not a world record!
Excuuuussseee meeee if my eyes get a little blogging late in the evening.

It's still not a world record. That's the point. And we get these daily on LRC.
Enough! They are not world records!
