Actually, there was a story that some guys chased him as he ran over the bridge, yelled at him and cornered him. Nothing about what the guys yelled or who they might have been. But take a guess.

saw that. he does not look like he is in bad shape but 20 years is a long time to hold onto that level of fitness.

For reference, I just did a 1:45 half and walking 20 miles with a 25# pack is about my limit... backpacking a week in the mountains it was a struggle to maintain 12 miles/day with a pack. It's hard to maintain 3mph, usually I'm closer to 2.5mph moving average. I'm also 40 years younger! That's 10-12 hours per day he would have to be on his feet. With a pack. Plus camp setup/tear down. Plus cooking. Plus speeches. I have no idea how a 71 year old managed that for 110 days without getting tendinitis.

I'm older than 52 and can run a half a hell of a lot faster than that and there's no way I could walk 30 miles per day for weeks and months non stop.
