I remember in 2017 when BYU got beat by a team they perfect scored on at the conference meet. That was pretty brutal. To "fail miserably" and still podium. Yeah I remember that.
I remember that year in track they qualified 4 runners in the 10k, but by the end 3 of them slowed down and were out of it completely. Mantz was sick, the others decided to conserve energy for the 5k.
In 2018 they took 2nd at nationals, and went on to qualify an unprecedented 6 guys in the 10k.

At the end of the day this "over-rated and underperforming" team in recent years has still been the best performing distance squad in Cross Country and Track and Field combined.
Remember 2017 when Letsrun was hyping BYU like crazy and then they ran their worst race of the year and got 3rd?
NAU ran excellent, but to get 3rd was a big choke job and that's hard to deny because it was their lousiest race of the season.
getting 3rd when you're a strong candidate to win the internet is a big fail.
Mormon dudes have a lot of repressed rage and hate. I went to a non-mormon grad school that had many mormon students.
These dudes are very repressed and are so sick of putting on the fake ultra-righteous persona that they sometimes give brief glimpses into their anger, or like this Shumway character, their attempts at "edgy" humour. They are like evangelical Christians but on steroids, and self-police each other. Fascinating to observe in the wild.
Because it was grad school, these guys were decently intelligent, so they had to deal with extra layers of rage brought upon by the cognitive dissonance of belonging to such a bizarre cult with its absurd origin story.

That 10k in Eugene 2 years ago was a complete meltdown for byu. Interesting that this guy bags on Harvard for wearing vaporflys, yet many of their 10k guys used them on the track last season.

Yeah, how do you talk $hit, when you're not even racing? Btw, in comparing states, Utah has the highest consumption of pornography per capita in the United States and a MASSIVE opioid problem. Their downtown in salt lake looks like something out of the walking dead.
rojo has a lot weighing in on his conscience lately and like Mike Rossi turning to the bottle which will means he will eventually do himself in. next year is an election year and he is tied directly to Republicans in the white house. I wonder if any of the vigilantes out there in the running world have thought about making a statement against the brojos while the media would be hyperfocused on politics? that would be the time to strike.
