I’ve been turned off by Kara’s actions in the past. Specifically I didn’t like what she said about the 4%’s after the 2016 trials. Also not a huge fan of how outspoken she’s been against Nike. That said I’m so confused by the hate on this article. A few facts below
- she says she can’t judge anyone on the team for possible doping besides Galen
- hints that it’s probable many folks on the team aren’t doping
- didn’t put anything out until after worlds
- left the team shortly after she saw things she knew weren’t right
- admits that Salazar was someone she loved at one time, tried to confront him directly, only when he didn’t respond did she take it further
- not harboring any resentment on other athletes that didn’t come out at first
- glad that USADA got this far, thinks there is much more too it but doesn’t dwell on it (she decided to work it directly with USADA and not directly involve the media/public a few years back)
- yes it’s normal that she has a sense of peace now!! I imagine this was a really really shitty thing to go through
What do you guys want here? Her to admit she cheated? What if she didn’t? Why would Shalane embrace her as a training partner if she cheated? If she cheated, why did she leave? (No I don’t buy the Alberto breakup excuse. By all accounts it was a fatherly relationship as Kara’s father died when she was very young) If she was cheating, how was she able to carry her success out of training with NOP? Yes she is old now but did have several successful years after Alberto.

I really do wonder whether some of these posters are paid by Nike or by Salazar. It's not about whether Goucher is a good person. It's not about whether she was involved with the cheating at NOP. It's about Salazar, and the way he's operated for many years.
Goucher put her reputation on the line to help take down one of the most notorious doping coaches in athletics. You don't have to like her or trust her, but at least have some grim satisfaction that the system is working.
Mo Farah's coach Alberto Salazar was recently busted and banned for PED (performance enhancing drug) use.
That means that everyone he coached was on those drugs, yes including Mo Farah.
Anyone, who thinks that Mo Farah was clean is either:
a) Extremely naive
b) A disingenuous liar
c) Has a karyotype that shows a trisomy
Farah was the dirtiest distance runner in track history. And that is saying a lot considering the sport has been littered with dopers since the 1970's.

In this typically narcissistic ramble, she and the author manage to never mention Dr. Brown or mention thyroid meds. Very telling. I'm glad AlSal got taken down but Kara and Adam are not really much better in terms of character. Involving Colt in this is irresponsible as parents.

It sure would be helpful, now that Dr. Brown has been banned, if the USADA released a list of all athletes who have received a TUE with his name on it as the doctor. I think that list would be very enlightening.

So her own "whistleblowing" had nothing to do with the arbitration panel's findings?
The panel said nothing about TUEs (a term the Lets Run cognoscenti love to parrot) or the drug she claims Salazar tried to force on her for weight loss?
So how can she possibly feel vindicated? The whistle she blew turned out to be irrelevant.
And my dictionary defines trafficking as to "deal or trade in something illegal." Salazar neither dealt nor traded in testosterone; he used it only on his son as a test to see if an athlete could be sabotaged with it, which is a legitimate concern in light of what Justin Gatlin claims happened to him.
So how is Salazar guilty of "trafficking" in testosterone, as USADA claims?
Sounds to me like a strained effort to make what Salazar did sound much more sinister than it actually was -- as in Alberto Salazar, the testosterone candy man.
Correction: It was Trevor Graham, Justin Gatlin's notorious former coach, who claimed that a masseur rubbed testosterone-laced cream on Gatlin to sabotage his career. Still, the claim raised a possibility that Salazar apparently thought was worth investigating.

These posts are disheartening. Just like Jenny, so much criticism of Kara just for being an outspoken woman.
Take a look at the original accusations and insinuations by Goucher and Magness. Now take a look at the actual violations. Looks like they made a bunch of crap up. That's what I have a big problem with.
Kara is still being a bit ambiguous. She says that there was an inner circle at NOP containing Salazar, Rupp and sport psychologist Darren Treasure. Then when Mo Farah joined he was a part of the inner circle. Mo came just a few months before Kara left the group in 2011. She also says "when I found out what I did, I left within months." She doesn't have any hard evidence against Galen besides his private messages with Salazar. I don't think she has said anything about Farah. Is she holding things back still?
So when was it established that Dr. Brown was shady? I think the Colorado athletes in question didn't know he was bad news until things blew up a few years ago. Until that time he was considered fairly reputable.
