Please explain to me how slander has anything to do with what actions private citizens (boycotts, etc.) take when they express their opinions about the Dixie Chicks.
The main idea (I will spell it out for you) is this, and I think several other people have articulated it better than I: This is America, and anyone can say whatever they want. Only King and USC have a problem with this, and these idiots think someone who states their opinion is "treasonous." Guys, go back to the War of 1812...... jeezus.
But, regardless of your position in society, there are usually consequences when you state a controversial opinion. The vast majority of the time, these consequences have nothing to do with the government.
When you play to a conservative crowd, and you make anti-war comments, you're gonna have to to accept responsibility for your actions/opinions instead of pawning it off on the government, your upbringing, or anything else so many Americans like to blame their problems on.
