If sub-2 falls in downhill Sunday, where will that fall in LR fails?

There is now way it could yield that much time gain or every 2:05-07 guy would try this to be the first one under 2 hours and yet it's never happened. Do you really think someone would give up the notoriety of breaking 2 even if it's not a legit race just to run another 2:05 at Berlin or London?

Interesting course. In theory, based on Jack Daniels, this should be 5-6 min faster for an elite factoring the net downhill and altitude. So, someone with 2:05 ability could break 2 here. However, I'm not sure that even the typical elite Kenyan will have the legs to hold up to the theoretical comparable time. I could see them really hurting in the closing miles and finishing in a few min under their PR, but not quite pulling off a sub-2.

I once ran a 5 mile race that dropped a net 1800' for my second race of the day after running a quite hilly (300+' of gain), net flat 5k that morning. The 5 mile race was 40 seconds per mile faster than the 5k, but my legs were more destroyed afterwards than they were after any other race I've ever run. Can't imagine doing that kind of course for a marathon.
