I'm not to proud to admit that I'm not a computer guru or even close to good at it so you can feel free to make fun of me (I do other things for a living that don't involve a computer). I took about 5 pictures of him before the start but am clueless on how to attach them. Sorry.

So you're saying the City of Flint, where residents still don't have a public water system that provides drinkable tap water, should make sure every pothole is filled for some no name 10 miler?
He should have been looking down at the pavement to make sure he had firm footing. Every hobby jogger knows this. The City of Flint does not have the resources to pave every pothole. If you're going to race in one of the country's poorest cities, you should expect the roads are not going to be in A+ shape. Man up and take some personal responsibility.

Maybe you should learn more running names before making an ignorant statement about a "no-name" 10 miler race
Guess he won’t be switching to technical trail running anytime soon
Needs to ditch the clown shoes and get a Bosu Trainer to prevent injuries like this

What has Ryan Hill done since 2016? Missed the Olympic Team, but ran a solid 3k. Indoor silver at worlds in 2016. 2017 squeaked onto the world team. 2018? This year? Nike is very much a “what have you done for me lately” company. They dropped Meb and Leo after highlights of their career. Hill has no social media presence and hasn’t raced much/doesn’t race much when healthy.
Squeaked?! He was second by a mile, beating Jenkins, Lomong, True, etc.. He made the final (Jenkins didn't) and got the norovirus that was going around and couldn't compete. 2018 he was second at USAs almost beating Chelimo. He's an incredibly consistent good racer, makes teams and finals at every World's he's been at. WTF are you talking about mate.
Dude is just hating. We have more evidence that he will be a factor in the Olympic trials and make the team over plenty other Americans.
I feel like the team next year will be between
Chelimo,
Jenkins
Hill
hunter(apparently ran this USA meet with some injuries)

No name? Yeah, it's only one of the most competitive 10 milers in the country. Obviously you're a troll or uninformed or just hate Michigan.

Lol yeah because it was Jerry who created that pothole ...

I ran the 5K- didn't hear about his injury until after the race. I'm not surprised.
The start is a brick road nit it's very uneven with "holes" where a couple bricks are missing.
And yes- the roads in Flint (and Lansing) are really bad.
To be more honest, only the first 30 plus yards are brick at the start and it quickly changes to asphalt on the slight uphill start. I've ran it a jillion times and I was there at the start of the 10 miler on Saturday.
It's unfortunate and could have happened to anyone. He was most likely in the tight knit 2nd pack within a stride of whoever was in front of him and he didn't see it. Again, unfortunate but I agree with others who say he'll have plenty of time to come back for Atlanta on February 29th as long as it heals properly in the next 1-2 months.
I agree that it's unfortunate, I'm not blaming the course or the race. You make very good points.
I rarely ever run these big mega races and I enjoyed my experience in Flint.
Great organization and friendly people. The Mile on Friday was great- I was hanging out with some Master's Women.
Think it's a toss-up whether Crim or Cherry Blossom is the most competitive 10-miler in the county (probably world).

I did not see any potholes while I ran Crim but others claimed they did. My only problem with Crim is the final 2 tenths of a mile of the course the is on a brick paved street. At least they claim to have made an effort to fix the roads and sidewalks before the race.

I am just hating. It’s literally in my name. Fair points on Hill. I feel like he’s been relatively inconsistent and has had a bad 2019 due to injuries. My point still stands. If Hill doesn’t do anything in 2020 or 2021 then he’ll be on the chopping block.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Did you come in from out of state to race? I'm just curious as it's a pretty big on the race schedule of a lot of Michigan runners and I always wondered how many people besides the elite come from other states.
The Cherry Blossom in D.C. is another big 10 miler. Herb Lindsay said that he ran like 45:59.8 there or thereabouts but then suddenly they announced an issue with the course. Meyer ran 46:13 there before his 83 Boston victory.
What happened to Hill this year? No races

Thank you Jerry.
I wonder what the injury rate is for Schumacher. Seriously, this guy must be at 60-70 % injuries for his group. I understand training on the edge, but damn! Might be time to examine philosophies or get better support staff.

Flanagan, Cragg, Jorgensen, Infeld, Hall, Quigley, Houlihan, Grace, Derrick, Bumbalough, Solinsky, Tegenkamp, Bairu, Nelson, Jager, Lomong, Huling, Hill, Fernandez, Hughes, Scott, Ahmed, Kincaid and Centro have all been injured in the group. I might be forgetting some. I think Bayer and Thompson have also had injury problems.

The answer: Very few coaches ever believe in REAL rest between hard sessions. Sad, but true.

You did not ask me but I will answer anyway as I am from Michigan and ran Crim this year and have run it some other years.
14 of the top 20 finishers this year were from states other than Michigan so it does pull in very good runners from other states. I would guess after skimming through the top 200 finishers that less than 5% of all runners in the race are from other states.
You can look for yourself in the results for this year's race or other years at:
https://crim.org/races/hap-crim-festival-of-races/race-results/Parking before the race is easy to find and free as long as you know which parking lot you want to go to beforehand and so long as you do not cross the course to get there are you arrive before the roads are closed. I parked just 3 tenths of a mile from the start/finish line this year.
The Bradley Hills are challenging but I found the rolling hills that seem to fill the remainder of the course to be even more of
a challenge to me.
