When I read OP’s title of ‘belly shown’ I was picturing an overweight dude with his gut hanging out. Isn’t this what triathletes usually wear?

Dude has lower body fat than the typical runner, tan skin, and tattoos. He likely gave some female along the course a heart attack.

yeah, not really.. Dude ran 2:18.20 in Boston two years ago. Tommy Rivers is a stud. Primarily an ultra runner from Flagstaff, but he can hang in road marathons as well and it's generally not his focus. I believe he won Trans Rockies one year. He may not look like the standard road marathoner, but he's pretty awesome. Plus he does all that while getting his PhD and raising several kids. Everyone who knows him says he is a great guy. People speak really highly of him. The thing that soured me on him though was a couple of posts he wrote on IG where he essentially romanticized hard labor. He went on and on about how laborers were the most fit people he's ever met, how they thought he was stupid for working out for working outs sake etc... It was along the lines of we are all privileged to be able to pursue running but weirdly romanticizing hard labor. The reason it bothered me is that I grew up not too well off, I did a lot of odd jobs growing up and worked as a cook for years. During those times I worked with many people from Spanish speaking countries, laborers if you will. While they for sure knew how to endure and were 'fit' in some sense, they were also in horrible health. Guys that were only in their 20's who I could have sworn were 40+. Most of them are happy to do the work, and coming from small poor villages it is somewhat understandable. But for me it is not something I would ever envy and it honestly makes me feel sad that we live in a country where a portion of people work themselves to the bone for so little. To romanticize that life for your own gain (IG followers) is pretty fucking douchey if you ask me.

I was wondering about that, if you look through his IG there's times he has tattoos and then times they disappear. That's either some high quality Temp Tattoo ink or high quality photoshopping
