Better Career: Andrew Wheating or Jakob Ingebrigtsen?

Let's say for the moment that Andrew Wheating's mom got a job in Norway in 2000, and he was coached by Gjert from 2000 to the end of his career. How fast would Wheating have run in his career?

Would it be just 1:44/3:30 after starting at the end of his junior year of high school or would it have been more like 1:42/3:26? I'd bet the latter.

Centro basically has an allergy to post-Monaco races other than championships. I just don't think that he likes having his hat handed to him in races. He ran one or two after Monaco but that seems to be about his max tolerance. But that also keeps him from running 3:29 because he only really gives himself one shot at a fast time every year.

I don't put too much stock in being a two time Olympian. If Wheating actually made the final of an Olympics, I would give him more credit for that. We all know Jakob will be on several Olympic teams so lets cut that out as criteria for judging the two. I would argue Jakob's two medals at World Juniors by themselves are a greater achievement than anything Wheating has done considering the level of competition he had to face.

You don't put too much stock in being a 2 time Olympian? Jakob has never made an Olympic team and the jury is still out on whether he ever will. Wheating has had the better career although it us somewhat close.

It's incredible to me how in a sport that is fairly easy to be objective, there is willful delusion like this. 17 year old Jacob would have the upperhand on Wheating at any point in his career.

Rung below to who? That's an opinion. Also didn't move Farah a 5k runner come down in distance and run arguably his best time?

Ok let's be objective. Wheating has run faster in the 800 & 1500. He has also qualified for a global team twice. Wheating has had a better career objectively. If they stopped running today we would all say wheating had more success.

I want to be famous enough that people compare my career to theirs.

This got to be the dumbest post i've seen today. Jakob has never made an Olympic team - yeah he's 15 in 2016. He will certainly be a potential medalist at Tokyo when he's 19 years old. You're the only one that thinks 'the jury is still out on whether he ever will'. Jakob already has a better career than Wheating at 17, and he's only going up. 2 time Olympian doesn't mean Sh1t....Jakob got double Euro gold, Euro junior records (possibly world junior records) - Wheating cannot hold a candle to Jakob.

Well it looks like people are evenly divided about who has had the better career. Of course Jakob has plenty of time to try to catch and surpass Andrew.

Sorry to break it to you but NCAA titles mean f all outside America. It's not even a national championships but restricted to college kids.

Same applies to making an Olympic team especially if you do naff all once you get there. Who made the British team alongside Farah?

Wheating never even made an Olympic final.

International Championships rate a lot higher than National titles

He's already better than your overrated underachiever.

As an example our Andy Badeley made finals off a 3 second slower 1500m pb

jacob has already banked a carear, comparable to the total body of work of wheating.

wheating on the other hand is stil one of the top 800 plus 1500 men of all time in the us.

in hindsight, maybe it would have been best for wheating, injury wise to take more time out, and not train like a miler, but more an 800 specialist, and also try and get the 400 down to 47 low or even 46,

no doubt wheating was an AR candidate in the 8, and maybe 141. he was that good.
