For those uninsoctrinated in Daniels, through the second edition, he essentially felt the MP was useless too. It was viable for LT adaptation for some runners if you did it for a really long time (an hour or more), and it was good for getting used to pace and mental focus, but was not a particularly useful or efficient Toole or physiological adaptation. He gets away from that some in the third edition of his book, I understand, but he doesn't really explain why it would be useful (I love Daniels, but I don't have very positive thoughts on this issue).
