yes but 6 minute pace isn't blasting, i know for the most part, when i run 6 minute pace, u can't tell the difference between it and when i am running 630
plus, i'd venture to say once these guys run lets say 6 weeks at 80-100 miles of 6:30 pace, it becomes 6:20 pace, 6:15 pace etc...
but i do know one guy that went to arkansas, ran with the guys but could not handle it, he was 3:46 going in, never heard from again. 6 min was simply too fast.
but other guys, johnny mac just gets them to stay with it and great things happen, even guys who ran like 730 pace in HS.
also, arkansas doesn't normally run over 8 miles for a regular run. then they have a 14 mile long run.
M- AM 4 miles 6:45-7:00 pace. PM- workout
T- AM 4 miles " " PM- 8 miles 6 minutes or better, weights
W-same as monday
T-same as tuesday
F- 5 miles at 6 minute pace (at least early in the season)

this would be like, 4 +2+6+2 =14 on M,W,Su (42 miles)
12 on T,Th (24 miles)
5 on fri (5)
