In 2015 he fell at the end of a 1500m heat at Nationals. This fall caused a lot of ankle problems which were not diagnosed properly until much later. (There's a good story about NOP negligence/incompetence here, but we'll leave that for another day.)
After a year of struggles things finally came to a head exactly one year later (July 2016) at the same venue: He limped home in the 5000m, needed to be on crutches, was properly diagnosed, then had an operation.
It took a LOT of time to ease into training again, and to make the ankle happy.
He recently ran a 65min Half that hardly anyone knows about.

Assuming this is true, he might be back...but only if he can stop the injury cycle, which can be notoriously hard to do.
to be fair to Cam, he was only trying to run under then World Half Marathon standard of 66:00 to qualify for the Canadian team so everybody can R-E-L-A-X
True enough. Like with Webb and Fernandez, Wheating, et al, the rest of us forget how damn hard it is to 1. go as fast as they did; 2. hold onto that intangible magic of a good season.
When we see real talent, we just expect it to always be there, and so often it is just lightening in a bottle. Not every one is Bekele (even he isn't Bekele anymore).
Agree. Often you hear someone say "talent does not go away." True, but something can and does go away. Maybe reason or desire, chronic fatigue, joint degeneration. Lets not forget most great runners were here and gone in a matter of 5 years. Very few (only the legends) were around longer.
I'm sorry to those this may offend but Cam has done NOTHING in two years and this sorry trend probably won't change. He'll be another Wheating in two years. Sorry.

Cam had surgery in 2016 a$$hole and had been off for quite some time. Nice job SHILL, did you accomplish your mission? How many hits were you looking for?

He just ran GREAT a Few Months ago, at the World Championships Running a Canadian Record, Not sure why someone would start a thread that he is done, being that was VERY RECENT? He is doing well, Hopefully he can improve on that time, regardless He is running well lately, Canada is doing well with the 2 800 Meter Runners McBride and Arop And Matt Hughes in the Steeple, Ahmed and Knight in the 5000 and 10000, And A 3:56 for 1500 Woman Runner They have some good Mid-Long Distance runners. Probably as good or better than they ever had.
