Most reasonable answer in this thread. MJ destroys Hasay at 400 and has no chance whatsoever at 800. Anything in between, probably around 650-700 , is the answer to the question.
There seems to be a consensus that Michael wins at 400m. It's very hard to run a fast 1500m/mile without any track training so if we are just putting them in the race without any specific preparation, then Hasay wins at 1500m and up. It'd be different if you gave them a month of middle distance training. Then I think Michael wins the mile.
So assuming no preparation is allowed, the break even is between 400 and 1500m. Who wins at 800m? Assuming he paces it correctly, Michael because if HS track teaches us anything, it's that undertrained but strong young men can run a decent 800m if they have some natural speed. Based on all of this reasoning, I'd put the break even point around 1000m.
JH vs MJ at 600 would be fun to watch.

This is a little known/very overlooked fact that proves Wilt was completely on his own level physically regardless of era. He is both the strongest and fastest center in league history and regularly played entire games at a pace that would shame teams today.
To answer the question MJ would most certainly defeat Hasay in 800 and down with no preparation. His top end speed was tremendous and he'd hold on. Beyond that he'd need some training but it wouldn't take much time for him to beat her in the mile.
I think MJ has a reasonable chance at 800. Hasay in marathon training I will guess around 2:13-2:14. Would not be totally surprised in Michael Jordan could run that in his prime.
I would say the 3 meter leap.

The free throw. And maybe the lay up, but not the slam dunk. MJ's turnaround 15 footer was lights out so anything mid-range out to the long two is all Michael. Maybe Hasay could try the white kid fundamentals from behind the arc thing but I just don't see her having the the height or the range to launch from downtown. The bottom line is, if we're talking a Jordan vs Hasay HORSE showdown, take the over.

I understand Jordan Hasay was a California basketball free throw champ when she was in seventh grade? Her PE coach told me she made 51 in a row one time in practice. That's nuts!

Yes, in fact I read one of Chamberlain's biographies and he may have ran 49 in the 400 and he was way under 2:00 in the 880 yard run. (I wish I could recall as it was spectacular. He also could throw the shot put quite well.) We have to assume that Michael Jordan could train for it a bit.
It think Jordan Hasay would have to take Michael out to the 1500 to have a chance because I do not see the former NBA star training for distance running.
I like the fact we are talking about Jordan Hasay in positive terms for a change on LRC.

You are not developing any speed by doing this kind of workout. It's possible to develop more speed endurance~~~but you will not develop sprint speed.
I'm not sure what he is trying to accomplish. Does he want them to have a heart attack like he did ...only at 25 rather than 40? This is Captain Insano. They should be doing some sort of recovery run the next day and then returning to hard training IF they are ready for the following day. You are just burning them out this way. As a coach it's called being greedy.
Craig Virgin was very critical of the 6 x mile Rupp did after his AR at 2 miles. There is no purpose in doing this kind of thing. Your Anaerobic ability is limited by the Aerobic peak.
Rupp had the ability to be an outstanding 5000 meter runner. But Salazar finished him for that distance. You can only go to the well so many times. They shoot horses don't they?
You can touch them with speed development but not until they have recovered.

400m: MJ beats JH by ~ 10 seconds (50 v 60)
800m: MJ beats JH by ~.01 seconds (2:10.xx v 2:10.xx +.01)
801m: MJ and JH deadheat
Hasay ran 2:08.32 her junior year at Oregon.
I think 600m would be the distance to race. Michael Jordan would probably have a reasonable lead at 400m but then would fade badly and Hasay would catch him at around 500m and then it would depend on whether or not Michael Jordan could kick over the last 50m or so. Would be close.
