Could it be that Killian thought he was at the summit? Was it so dark and snowy that he couldn't find it? Also what is the criteria for an actual summit? Do you have to hit the tippy top or does the vicinity of the summit actually count for mountaineering?

It's a possibility that Kilian made an honest mistake on his first Everest summit thinking that was the top but then we see Kilian claim a second summit of Everest and with even less evidence than the first. Kilian's Strava recording for his second Everest summit only shows him going back down hill and was never even close to the summit. Coupled with all the other evidence from the article in the OP's post, it is very difficult to believe this was a mistake.
Kilian was nowhere near the real summit, he still had about 730 feet of elevation gain to go. That is a significant amount he didn't climb and the last bits are the hardest because of the lack of oxygen and temperatures.

That was from the climb he attempted a few days before everest. I got those stories mixed up from memory.
How do we know how accurate his watch is? Check 4 or 5 runners from the same race and their gps and altitude is all over the place. That being said, killian says he has a photo of his watch at the summit.
I think this guy spent more time trying to discredit Killian than it actually took for Killian to summit twice. Also, why did he feel the need to tell about the switchback cutting at speedgoat? Everybody knows that is how they race in europe, the race was part of a series of races with all the others in europe and Killian was never told before the race about switchbacks. I am sure there are switchbacks at Hardrock that he has won 4 times since and I have never heard of him trying to cut any of them.
There is also en-route video taken by Sebestian apparently in a helicopter.
Well, that's probably Seb Montaz's drone+camera. He's got a lot of nice videos up at his fb page. I doubt that he chartered a helicopter to that height.
As for climbing at the hours that he did, I think it makes sense. If he's fast hiking, he might as well do the fast parts which will be the majority of the route in the daylight when he's fresh. He's also doing it alpine style from the base, meaning that he doesn't know where he's going because he hasn't done the route before. It makes sense to be able to see as much of the route as possible while you have some light.
As for the rest, yes, it would be better if he had more documentation. It does seem a bit weird. Where was the video of the fixed rope that he took a screen capture of? I tried clicking the links.
So I saw some clips of the supposed fixed lines. Not sure. Maybe they are from other parties. It doesn't appear that he's actually using an ascender to go up them. I tldr'd a lot of that but the portion i read does make it seem pretty sispicious. Seriously though, unless that guy has some financial interest in all of this he needs to get a life. Thats way too much work to put into something like this if you have nothing to gain from it. Also, maybe it's just me but remaining anonymous while naming everyone that you used to get your data from seems pretty poor taste.

Since he was trying to "fast climb" Everest...Is it probable that one of the reasons Jornet decided to make a go of it at night was because he was worried about the crowds and lines that are so famous at some of the crossings/ladder climbs?

He was climbing from the Tibetan/north side, which doesn't have the crowding and bottleneck issues of the South Col route

The speculation is undoubtedly fun, but all of the suspicious evidence will be null if he has that picture of himself with his watch at the true summit. If he's holding that card in his back pocket, then his team would be smart to add as much fuel to this fire as possible. Let the skepticism and controversy sell the movie.
If he really did cheat this, just rework the documentary to show what an elaborate hoax the whole thing was. Would still sell.

From those red zig zag lines, Jornet appears to have been lost, and spent a lot of energy tracking back and forth.
