Apparently you're in sub 2:55 shape. You just need a better course.
NYC is tough after all.
that's quite plausible. I have to say though, what's nice about a slightly hilly course like NYC is precisely that it's not completely monotone. but sure, physically a flat course has got to be faster. some day I'll do a flat one. but the next one I'll do is probably a small local marathon end of March - no travel and lodging required, low entry fee, all easy going. quite the contrast to NYC, will be interesting to see how much harder the last part will be without crowd support. the course is even hillier though, I think, so I'm not necessarily shooting for a PR there, maybe for another sub3. I'll probably do a shorter, 8-10 week marathon specific preparation for that one and surely take it easy for a while now (the marathon is 19 weeks from now).
anybody has good advice for what to do in the meantime, meaning in the next two months? I ran 45-65mpw during the last cycle, and would plan to be in this region again for the next one. less is more for me, but still I'd like to be in at least the same shape again for the next marathon.
