for all intents, he ran 49+ "proper" at start line of track with huge amount of wrecking from the prior 1k & 400s

even considering timing error, it is impossible this was worse than 49-low/mid if fully rested for a proper 400 race

we know 100% he couda run 26'30 in his gold if flat-out from gun

i'm not going to post his potential 3k, as he will never attempt it, but on day of 10k win, i think he was in most horrendous 3k shape ever conceived !!!

after ~ 1k, hicham was "shoooing" the wabbit to speed up & he shot away !!!, costing hicham helluva lot of drafting !!!

actually, Komen was intrinsic mile WR ability in '97

in a totally wild race with nearly 20 guys !!!, Komen, in 1st 100m, got shoved at least twice !!!, forced sideways/standstill/perhaps even fraction backwards !!!

huge loss of momentum !!!

he got sick of this ridiculous field/shoving & took a virtual right turn into lane 3 !!!

huge amount time wasted going straight right !!!

he then made most incredible sprint in lane 3 !!!, to get close to pacer by ~ 200m !!!

the utter nonsense shenanigans in ~ 200m in, musta cost him at worst 2s from baulking/shoving/slowing/sideways movement/lane 3/sprinting suicidally to catch pacer !!!

he then effectively drafted hicham to bell, lost race but still also ran extra distance on last bend to catch niyonbogo !!!

he still ran last lap in 54+ !!!

Komen that day, given small field, smoothly drafted to bell, no hicham to parasite him was in

3'43+

Nope. It's a meet add-on, not a diamond event. Doesn't count for points or anything, just the usual shits and giggles for Mo.

Zurich will likely not be fast since it's the diamond race final and the contenders won't want to risk it.

No he won't - obviously. He was a very tired athlete after his 10K win, even more tired after the 5K. If there is serious competition in the race, not always the case with Farah and races in the UK, he is not even nailed on for the win.

Given his 1500 PR, the 3000 WR was within his compass when he was at his peak. But not really feasible now.

Wow, what a weak field. Three guys have SB > 8 min. Did he really have to go against such a weak field? Meechal, who has a best of 7:35, may be his biggest rival. No Chelimo, no Edris, no Kejelcha, no Ahmed, no Barega, no Kiprop, no Jenkins...

The real question is: can he beat Kibowen's age 34 best of 7:32.01? That would be a PB for Farah.

One step further: can he beat Ryan Hill's PB of 7:30.93 or will Hill forever be considered faster than Mo over 3000m (and will he forever be allowed to call Mo, SlowMo)?

Thank god now that he is finished racing on the track these meets in the UK can have decent distance fields and not soft ones filled with B level guys so Mo can have an easy win
