I sure hope BB's got a guts incentive in his contract. If he doesn't, maybe the "run like a man" gang at LRC could start a gofundme to make up for the bonu$ he's going to lose for not making the team.
I would love to start a gofundme for Ben, just to buy that man drinks. Had he not made a move, we would be watching Centro parade around like a king after another snoozefest race.
Instead we get to see Centro pouting in front of the camera without getting interviewed.
+1
Ben MF Blankenship made Centro blow his load early, otherwise we'd be seeing another smug smile.

That was my favourite part

There isn't, we just think your post is f***ing stupid
Do you have any value to add to the conversation or are you just going to be an a$$hole?
I'm very interested to see what happens in London, when people decide to do the same thing Blankenship did (maybe Kwemoi?), or Centro gets blasted from a superior kicker (like Andrews).

One's man's hero is another man's idiot. Blankenship has all the speed he needs in this type race to make this team, and yet in his own head he decided it was smart to run all out from 600M. Yeah, that worked great! He walked in. Why not just go when the race goes and race smart. You can't tell me he can't out kick Johnny G.
Gonna have to disagree with you here. He probably knew that off a slow pace, he didn't have a great chance to out kick all three of Centro, Andrews, and Murphy. I'm not saying it was smart to lay down a 27.5 mid-race like that, but the overall idea of trying to wind it up from farther out makes sense when you consider that he was going to be trying to out sprint the Olympic gold medalist at 1500m, the Olympic bronze medalist at 800m, and another guy with multiple NCAA 800m titles to his name.

Finally, an explanation that doesn't make Blankenship sound like an idiot. Thanks.
I take it you agree with the poster who said BB had to try this crazy stuff because he was a 3:34 guy, which won't cut it on the international scene. In other words, he's Will Leer, without the whingeing.
(whinge: British, informal: to complain persistently and in a peevish or irritating way. "stop whingeing and get on with it!")
What if he went all out from the gun and came in DFL again, he would be even more of a hero, right?
Or better yet, a DNF, or a DNS because he ran so hard in the warmup that he couldn't toe the line - I think he would be in contention for a medal of honor at that point.
Hmmmm........go for it early for a shot at making the team to end up 12th or.......run smart to finish 4th......heroic or desperation? The optics were dramatic and got the peanut gallery talking about it. However, a 3:43 winning time.......meh.
Food for thought!!! wrote:

Lol, what a pathetic troll attempt. Who do you think is going to react to this? I'm only replying because I want to laugh at you for trying your best to troll and failing miserably.
Leave the trolling to the men, honey
reminds me of the move pre made at the olympics
If Centro was being honest and not just making up excuses after a race he lost (which could go either way) I don't think it would have mattered from how far out anyone started moving, Centro would win that race if he was 100%. He's an Olympic champ racing a bunch of guys who barely have or don't have the world standard. Blankenship had very little to do with Centro losing in my mind. Robby probably would have out kicked Centro either way if Centro really isn't at full fitness and health.

Since you asked, let's list some of the ways your topic is stupid:
1. Centro is nowhere near 100%. Andrews knows this and says it wasn't a real battle
2. Blankenship doesn't care whether Andrews or Centro wins
3. The purpose of the meet is to qualify for the World Championships team. In London, Centro will be back in medal shape and Blankenship will be watching from his laptop
4. Blankenship is a hero because he blew up. I like the guys who didn't blow up

Do we know this to be true? Blankenship and Centro were at the Olympics representing the US together last summer. Maybe Centro really pissed Blankenship off, and he wanted to make sure Centro didn't win this?
The truth is, Blankenship's move was both dumb and gutsy. When he made his move with 600 to go I said agonizingly to my wife, "that's never going to work". It was already looking by ~250 that he was in trouble, and by 200 the wheels were off. But he f*cked with Centro's race in a way that nobody was willing to do at the Olympics last year. So if his goal was to do that, it was brilliant.

Good on him for actually trying to make this a race, instead of a 400m sprint after a 1100m jog!
Are you talking about the race that was won in a time that still wouldn't qualify you to get into the meet in the first place?

The real hero in my mind was Engels. A collegian took the lead with 100 to go on the Olympic champ. He could have easily run for third and gotten third. He went it for it big time and it cost him a spot on the team but that's the mindset we need.
Engels and Blankenship but have guts.
Centro had the most guts in that race. Took control of the race and lead the most.
