Nice job. Congratulations.
Nice job. Congratulations.
What was your average long run pace and distance leading up to your race?
I was following daniels plan and it got to be kind of a 2 week cycle of like
Wednesday 5 @ 8:00, 2 @ 6:45, 2 @ 6:10
Sunday 14 @ 8:00
Wednesday 5 @ 8:00, 2, 6:45, 2 @ 6:10
Sunday 7 @ 8:00, 3 @ 6:45, 3@6:10
Those aren't exact, but it's the general idea. My longest runs were 14 @ about 8:00 pace and my long hard runs were 13.1 miles following the above easy, marathon, tempo patern
I can't believe how sore I am. I thought it'd be comparable to a 10k. Definitely the most sore I've been been from running.
Here's a video of me finishing. Feel free to criticize my form or hobby jogger attire. 10k and half started at the same time

Yeah, the half usually takes me about 5 to 6 ish days to feel about normal again. Congrats on your race btw!

If you start watching a minute or two prior it's funny to watch all the 1:20 10K ladies hobble to the finish and then watch you zip by. Stark contrast.
(Sorry to bump a dead thread got my first half tomorrow and was googling.)
Congrats! I'm in a little worse shape than you but I think if I didn't have my kid, I'd be in the same shape (shooting for 1:24 or 1:25), and we've been running for a similar length of time and are similar ages. Makes me kind of wish I ran in HS or college to see what I was truly capable of.
Good luck on your race. Glad to see a least one person watched my video
