yeah people have n idea what a couple seconds means in a mile. on multiple occasions, someone at work has asked me my mile pr (in the 4:40s) and tell other people "that guy can run a 4 minute mile." when i do the whole..."well, not really", i always get looks like i'm an idiot when i say my pr again.
Do you ever get overcome and you know, have to drop a log in the woods?

Nobody ever asks times other than the marathon.
Worst are hobbyjoggers that will rattle on about their jogging all day long but never ask your times if you mention you run - especially big shots at work.

If you're not going to challenge yourself, expect the derision you deserve.
Perhaps running a BQ isn't a worthy challenge to some and running sub 15 in a 5k is to others. To each their own sir!

Anything related to the marathon. The hobby joggers think they're better than competitive runners because they managed to hobble their way on a road for 5+ hrs. With walking breaks. Meanwhile, they criticize my speed over 5k (sub-17: not great but not too shabby either) and say "You have no endurance".

That is so me. The only difference between us is that I am struggling to run 10 mpw.
