Jimmy Hendrix, Jimmy Page come to mind as virtuosos, but I prefer the sweet, smooth play of David Gilmour.

As for you drumming fanatics out there, yes Neil Peart has chops and fills it up, but he tends to play out of context a little too much sometimes. BONHAM's groove and monster right foot stomps Neil's shit out any day.

Bonham and Moon were good, but definitely not the best ever.

Neil Peart is probably the best modern drummer, but Terry Bozzio, Bill Bruford and Stuart Copeland are up there as well. Dave Weckl and Billy Cobham on the modern jazz/fusion side and Philly Jones, Max Roach and Tony Williams are some of the best pure jazz drummers ever.

But the best ever, hands down was Buddy Rich.
