Wardian rockets into 8th place 4 miles behind JW.
That's scary. Would you rather have Mike Wardian 4 miles behind you or Jeff Browning 4 miles behind you?
If you are JW, it doesn't matter.
They're still not even halfway through the race. What is this, a jog fest?

For most it is. Only the top competitors will run the whole 63 miles.
You know how tired you are after your 9 mile long run? They do that 6 more times in a row.
JW thru 49.5k in 3:31.
Well, JW had that situation at WS100 with Browning. How did that one turn out?.

Jeff Browning beat him by 135 minutes.
Everybody knows JW took a wrong turn at 93 miles while on course record pace. That's probably the ONLY chance anybody has of beating him now.

Well, if JW takes a wrong turn at 93 miles today then he will really have made a wrong turn before that and just kept running, especially since the race is only a 100K :D

He would probably run into Wardian doing a cool down.
PAIN.

YES! Honestly, given the way the subject was phrased, this was the first thing that popped to mind. Thanks for posting :)
Has this always been the same course? I saw that Sage ran 8:53 to win in 2013. In 2015, Dylan Bowman annihilated Sage's time with 7:44, and this year, Jim is easily on track to take down Bowman's record. Was that just a terrible race for Sage despite winning?
JW almost 5 miles ahead of second place with 22k to go!
you idiots that think Walmsley lost Western States are idiots. He won that race by miles. I talked to Andrew Miller and he said Walms is just "another planet" type of runner and he had "no chance."
Looks like my prediction of Walms winning by 35-40:00 will stand.
Here is your "winner" almost drowning at mile 78 thanks to the massive bonk he brought on with his idiotic early pace:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TFb5EZ2OX4The guys a beast but does some pretty dumb things in races.

6:09 with about 17k to go (course is 102k, not 100k)
he time trialed the WS course in 13:52 before the actual race. dude knows what he's doing.
