So, provided this statement is true that means Alberto is actually calling the shots for the team and setting up the the workouts. Which menas Tyson is merely a puppet and Alberto is the Puppet Master.

Why is Tyson agreeing to this? I have read many posts saying he is a great coach. If he is, he should set his foot down and stop this immediately. Otherwise he will never be respected as a coach.

umm, I dont see how you get that from the previous post. It seems to me they are saying that Galen Rupp is going to workout with the UO team, and Salazar is also going to give him things to do, or Tyson and Salazar are going to work together concerning his workouts. Whats with this puppet stuff? Tyson is coaching UO distance runners, which now includes Rupp. An athlete can have more than one coach, and it seems Rupp is one of them. Salazar is going to still be his coach too. Man you guys are getting too worked up about this stuff.

I for one have read too many posts about how great Tyson would be as OU's distance coach. I want to see him get the chance. Now Rupp, who claims to want to join the OU team after so many people have stated he would not want or need to run in college when he can run Pro, is going to continue training under Alberto. At the same time Rupp will do the teams workouts. If Rupp will continue to train under Alberto, but he will do the teams workouts, then Alberto is calling the shots. Which means Tyson is Alberto’s Puppet. Open your eyes.

Triathlete I have the feeling you never ran DI. If you did it was a long time ago and things have changed. He is a puppet!!! It was his only way in. Salazar isn't taking anything from him he knew the deal. Regardless he's just a temp coach and he isn't about to rock the boat.

She went to Portland to have Salazar as a coach. he can't be in two places at once and he's not pushing for her to go to UO (but said he was preserving her collegiate elligibility). Here is another national record holder, like Rupp. However, Rupp is getting all the attention and meanwhile what's happening to Chock?
Very sad for her. She stays in Portland with his wife and workouts out with? If she is pro, no big deal she can just collect the money and get workouts from her coach in CA. He seemed to know what was best for her. If she didn't sign a contract she is not in a good situation bc her NCAA clock started this yr and she has 5 yrs to complete 4 yrs worth of seasons which means she needs to start in the fall and never redshirt or get hurt.
Salazar basically put 15lbs on her and forgot and moved on to the task at hand.

Seems to me that Alberto and Pat can get along, play nice and offer Mr. Rupp some very quality coaching. I would have killed to have two such knowledgable people "advising" me.

Let's see how can it be bad? Well, how about we start with the fact that the other 60 athletes on the TEAM just lost their coach so I doubt they care if Galan is happy or not. They would rather he go back to being happy in Portland.
When he racks up points at both the Pac 10 and NCAA meets, I sincerely doubt it will matter.

Salazar is not going to be in Eugene every day. I'd imagine Rupp will be doing some workouts with the entire team and some with Salazar. I fail to see how Tyson is a puppet. He will be working with Rupp some, and he, not Alberto, will be directing the rest of the athlete's training. Have any of you saying Tyson is a puppet actually met him? He's not the kind of guy that would sign up for something to strictly be a puppet for someone else.
Finally, OU is Oklahoma, or Ohio University. It is not Oregon. That is UO. If you're so intimately familiar with how this setup is going to work and who is a puppet and who isn't, it might help if you actually knew what school you were talking about.
man, he still gonna get his ass kicked by the other runners. just cuz he finnally gonna run collegiatley doesnt make him invincible. and this whole things sucks for the UO track team. why is he even joining their team when he will still have alberto coaching him, rahter than the UO TEAM track coach him. he really should take his punk ass back to portland. unless he will stick with only Tyson and the rest of the UO TRACK TEAM. not the alberto salazar uo track team.

if alberto can coach rupp why cant the guys on the team get a personal coach too. Would they allow this type of thing to happen... probably not but since its alberto and nike he can do what he wants
Letting those other athletes have their own coach (outside of UO) just wouldn't be fair. Come on, what could you be thinking?
